I was looking for honeycomb blinds. As recommended on the HDC site, I ordered swatches so that I could be sure the color choice was correct. I found a perfect color match with the HDC house brand of shade - aka the Laurel shade - so I ordered the blind. It was delivered in a timely manner, but when I opened the package I was very disturbed to find the top and bottom "rails" were a very different color than the blind fabric itself. The blind is medium blue, while the rails are *much* lighter, and more of a blue-gray color. Very unattractive - the rails really clash with the fabric.
I called customer service to try to work this out, and it has been an exercise in absolute futility ever since. They say they will call in x number of days, then they don't. When I call them, they say it will take another x number of days to have an answer, then they will call with a response. They have not called me once, to date. It is a classic runaround game.
At one point they used the excuse that "the vendor says that is the way its supposed to be". I asked how I was supposed to know this, given they don't specify anywhere on the site that the Laurel blinds do not come with matching rails. They fully admitted that they don't include this information on their site, so I don't have any way of knowing the rails don't match, but the vendor says its normal.
Long story short, they are still giving me the runaround. They won't do an exchange (as it's normal to have mismatched rails!) but maybe they will give me a refund. The blind was delivered on 2/2 and I called them the next day to report the problem. It is now 3/3 and this is still going on. I most recently gave them a full two weeks to review the pictures of the blind that they asked me to send (they told me they would get back to me in three days), and today they say they have not reviewed the pictures yet. They will call me once they have looked at them.
Please don't give HDC your hard earned money - it is too much of a gable. If you have trouble with the product, you will REALLY suffer if you try to deal with their service department.
