placed two orders at Half.com. Did not receive order,NO RESOLUTION CENTER, All they say is to contact the seller. When i asked for a customer service person to help,they told me to call 18007234763 which is the Disney corperation. DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE GUY'S, YOU CAN NOT FILE A CLAIM OF ANY TYPE!

Cheap books but awful with customer service. I got ripped off- never got the book- and have waited almost 2 months now for my refund. I ordered a book, got charged for it and after not receiving it discovered that the seller had done this to 4-5 others and was AWOL. I have gone through the (hard to find) process of requesting an inquiry and have emailed them numerous times with no reply. Will not buy from them again.

Half.com is part of Ebay and as such they should be ashamed of the abhorrent customer service provided.

Being a buyer was always easy. I just became a seller and it's a nightmare. In short, their site is incapable of registering my "Seller Payment Method" so I sent their customer service department a few emails, waited a few weeks. In the meantime, I sold and shipped a $75 textbook. At this point, I want my money! The customer service number isn't ANYWHERE on their site (I'm 25 and miles ahead of the average internet user so if I can't find your number, you either don't have one or you're hiding it on purpose) so I googled it.

I waited to speak to a service rep for 1 hour and 45 minutes before my phone (and my spirit) died. The seller is completely powerless at Half.com. There's more.

For a heavy textbook they will reimburse me $3.85 for shipping. The actual cost was $9.41 including the packaging. Don't forget to account for that stuff when you price your item.

Remember Half.com takes a significant percentage of the sale. Depending on the cost of the item it can be as high as 15%.

At Half.com, I was able to purchase the book I wanted easily enough, and the funds were withdrawn from my account right away. Yet, after the "4-8 days" I was told, I receive an e-mail saying that my book will come in a full 21 days later.

For a service selling textbooks, they do not realize that these books are needed with any expediancy.

I placed one order in June for four books from four different sellers.  Three came through as described and in a timely manner.  I never saw the fourth book, and am still struggling through the eBay bureaucracy trying to recover the $68 that they charged me for the book on 6/29.  I have followed all of their procedures to the letter--including contacting the seller multiple times and never hearing a word back. 

If you buy from different sellers, I suggest that you do so with different credit card transactions.  It won't cost you any more in shipping, and that way you can have Visa reverse the charge for a single book (I paid for mine in a $250 lump).  Their "claim" system is ridiculous!  I saved money on the three books that I actually received, but I'll never use half.com again!

I have loved half.com for years but now I find myself having a problem registering a new checkcard and I cannot get any customer service thru their email system whatsoever after a week of repeated requests for help.

I finally found a phone number for them but, of course, they dont open until I go to work because they are on Pacific time. It is a 24 hour site it should have 24 hour manned customer service phone lines.

The name half.com is an understatement when referring to their customer service.  These people are crooks.  Since when do you operate an online company without even posting your customer service number.  They owe me money and they keep trying to deposit it into a 3 year-old bank account and it keeps failing - imagine that.  In order to update the account online, you have to enter your old account number (I guess everyone keeps their old account numbers around in their wallets?!).  I tried calling ebay, and ebay said they do not have half.com's phone number!  wow.  Upon receiving my money for books I have sold I am never using this service again.

I have been ordering from Half.com for just a little over six months and have ordered 42 books (from 40 different sellers) for my daughter.  Each seller is responsible for shipping your order and communicating with you about shipment etc.  So far, I have had abolutely no difficulty with anything I have ordered and each item has shipped promptly and arrived on time.  Media mail shipping is what has been used for the majority of the orders and that does take awhile to arrive but overall I have had great experiences and would recommend the site to anyone needing affordable books.  I also like the convience of adding all the various books (from many different sellers) to one shopping cart and using one payment method.  If you were to order all these different books from Ebay alone you would have to enter seperate payment information for each one and repeat the process over and over.  The convienence of Half.com is so nice!  My daughter has always found whatever book she was looking for, a great selection, and really enjoys the fact that when she is looking for books in a series she can always find the books she needs.

I had an issue with half.com for a claim I filed. I filed a claim for a book not received and waited for more than three weeks. No response from Half.com. They don't even send an email stating that you have filed a claim. Finally thanks to the previous post, I found the 800 number and called them. DO NOT PRESS ANY OPTIONS AFTER CALLING THE 800 NUMBER. YOU WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE CONNECTED TO THE CUSTOMER SERVICE.  I did not have to wait too long, may be two minutes or less.

Though she cound not do anything, atleast I let them know that I am waiting for more than 3 weeks since I filed my claim.

Half.com, like eBay.com is a great online shopping site.

My experience:

Half features most of the books, movies, and cds that I have ever searched for, and all of them at pretty reasonable prices.

My conclusion:

I recommend Half.com to anyone looking for good prices on new or used books, movies and cds, as well as computer software and games.

Especially great deals for students!

Do not buy from this web site unless you have a long time to waste waiting for your order.  If you have a problem with an order, there is no quick way to get a resolution.  I ordered 2 textbooks and paid extra for expedited delivery.  The first book came quickly -- within 4 days but it was not in the condition I ordered.  I ordered a brand new book.  I received a used book with someone's name written in the front cover.  I contacted the seller and told them I would keep the used book but I wanted a price adjustment.  The seller just ignored my email.  I am still waiting for the second book.  It has been 11 days and I have to wait another 5 days before I can file a claim.  I contacted that seller as well to inquire about the shipping status.  That seller also ignored my email.  Because all sales are final at half.com, I cannot order the book elsewhere and return the book from half.com when it arrives.  I don't consider 11 days expedited shipping.  I paid extra so I would not have to wait 11 days for my order.

LOVE this site for buying and selling books and music. I've used it for years and have never been disappointed. Even when sellers let you down, Half.com will quickly refund your money. Not like other sites such as VALORE BOOKS who takes your money quickly but never sends merchandise or refund. I will now ONLY order from Half.com.

Half.com is cheaper than buying at the bookstore. I think for a seller it is weird the way you collect money after a purchase. You have to wait like a month and then your total purchases get sent to your bank account or something. I don't really know. I don't even remember if I got credited for selling that book. Anyways, I find that I would rather buy and sell books off of ebay.com instead of half.com. Just my opinion.

I have been shopping at half.com for several years. We own about 25 movies from there, and several dvd's. My son has 23 ps2 games, and I have bought all but one through half. My teenagers both buy all their cd's through half.com.

Instead of having to bid on new/used products, you are shown a page with a list of the, say, dvd you are searching for. They are listed in order of excellent condition, very good condition, good condition, etc. Each seller writes a little piece about what you can expect from their product, and the set price they are asking. Just click and it's yours! I don't think I've ever had to wait over a week for anything - it all seems to get shipped out quickly. I have had to contact the seller a couple of times, and everything ran smoothly. I have never been disappointed with anything I have purchased through there.
