The reviews of this merchant on the epinions site are not believable. The ID for each of 40 surveys is "Grand wine cellar shopper". For that ID it seems 39 surveys (all of them I think) have been completed with perhaps 2 different purchases in many months (7/12, 7/10, 6/30, 6/30, 5/19, 5/23 all 2008)mostly 5 star a couple 4 1/2. There are two reviews with different name both extolling the merchant and very short like "great".
There must be some people who had a bad experience. I did.
On 6/27/08 I ordered one bottle of Woodford Reserve Distillers Select Small Batch. The web site said they had it. They sent 3 emails to me after my order. They said I would hear from them in a few days and sooner if for some reason there was a problem with the order. 10 days later, 7/1, I had heard nothing and from the tracking it looked like my order had not been shipped. I called and spoke to a person with less than perfect diction who told me it had been back ordered the previous Friday. That would have been Independance Day. Aparently no contact had been made with the supplier to see if it was available. I told them this was a gift and it was embarrassing to me that my friend expected it and it had not even been mailed. I was told they would email me the next day (Tuesday 7/8) with an update. Friday 7/11 no email. I called again and got the same voice on the phone. No apology. I was told they would back order it again. I explained that it didn't seem likely they could get my order filled any time soon, if at all, and asked why they had not emailed me as they said they would. He insisted they had sent me two emails and gave me dates. My email was open as we spoke and there were no emails even though I knew they had the correct address, and he confirmed the address. Again no apology and belligerant insistance that they had emailed me. At this point he offered to substitute Woodford Reserve. I said I would not do that unless he would assure me of prompt delivery at no extra cost to me. He could not so I went to my local Bevmo bought Woodford Reserve and then drove to my friend's house and delivered it personally.
I gave them one more chance to put this right, or at least apologize by writing them an email through their web site. I told them I was very disappointed in my experience particularly as I had seen the glowing on line reviews. I said surely they would not want their business represented that way. That was over a week ago. No response.
So my conclusion. They said they had a product they didn't have. They made no contact with me when there were problems. Insisted I was wrong when I said I had not received emails from them. Finally, being fair, I gave them every chance to at least apologise. They did not. So NEVER AGAIN.
