Worst Experience from a major retailer EVER!!!

Customer Service is Lousy. I ordered one thing and received another and was informed that if I wanted what I originally ordered that it would be an extra $100.00 if I wanted to return the item that was shipped I would be charged a 15% restocking fee. The worst experience ever with a major Brand. I will never order another item from Gateway!

I couldn't be happier with a company of any type. The people are always informed, helpful and cheerful (must in its self say something about how the company is run). Unlike one of the other reviewers I've had only excellent experiences with customer service and technical support. I did have the same question about store prices vs on-line prices and found out that if there may be an apples to apples difference, the store will adjust accordingly. On the part about China, I think the other reviewer is mixing up Gateway with Dell.
I'm now on my 6th Gateway, including 2 laptops and I'm getting a plasma HDTV for a Christmas present for the family. My loyalty is like so many other friends and coworkers. |

I picked up a 510s desktop from the local store. Prices in the store did not match the prices on the web. Took an hour to get that settled. The machine is slow and will not connect to my network. Tech support was useless. This thing is going back to the store tomorrow. Buy from anyone else!

I was waffling between a gateway and a dell. I waited until the day of my purchase and priced the identical systems and gateways way about 50 dollars cheaper. The technical support at gateway has been tremendous, I had a malfunctioning keyboard and they took excellent care of me. The satisfaction ratings for gateway has fallen but they do an excellent job. Gateway made a mistake by building brick and morter store as the dot com companies crashed, and caused them to slip from the lead of computer manufactures. An excellent buy!!!

Overall I am EXTREMELY satisfied with dealing with Gateway. With their on time delivery, excellent customer service and wonderful products, who could ask for a better store. I'm not sure what the negative comments are about, but nor I or my peers have ever had a single problem with Gateway or their products.

If price is a factor...don't shop at Gateway. Everyone seems to have a price guarantee except for Gateway. I found out the hard way. I found the same digital camera at another store for $75.00 less. When I contacted Gateway their response was I could return the camera pay the 15% restocking fee and go and buy the camera some place else. Shop anywhere else and they would have refund your difference if your found the same product for a less price with in 30 days.

I ordered a digital camera on September 22, it arrived on October 17. The new Gateway Brand camera was very slow, it took about 12 seconds from when you pressed the button for a picture to be taken. I called and complained, and they said I could return it, but there was a 15% restocking fee, thats almost $50, just to find out their camera sucks. I would never buy from them again. I would rather buy from a local chain store that would accept returns. It shows you that they don't even back their own brand name items.

I agree, WORST run in the world. POOR to NO customer service, almost a month later and I am still waiting for a reply from their "concerned" department. They are not concerned at all once they get your money as that is all they want. BE WARNED and STAY CLEAR!!!

I ordered a power cord for a Gateway laptop that I own. I was given a ship date 6 days out, when it did not arrive in about 2 weeks i called and was told that it's on backorder and it would be shipped out in six weeks. After six weeks i received a call from Gateway asking for me to confirm my order.
i called them back and canceled the order and bought a Targus universal adapter from a computer store in my neighborhood. |
