My wife ordered a Gateway 7200XL from Gateway December 10, 2004. With high hopes to have it delivered before Christmas. The sales rep assured her it would arrive before Christmas (December 22, 2004, should have been the arrival date). She specified it was A Christmas gift and it was very important that it arrived on time. Once again the sales rep said it would arrive. She ordered the computer. No Computer on December 22. She called Gateway on December 23 and they said it would not arrive before Christmas due to high demand for the product and there was nothing they could do. My wife was VERY upset, she had made plans for this computer to be a suprise and Gateway offered no assistance, here plans where ruined. There were no phone calls or emails made to us to explain the situation. I called Gateway on December 24, 2004 to see what I could do. The first two Gateway reps I went through were NO help, and third explained he did not know why the product did not ship. He offered me $100.00 off the price and said it would arrive no later than December 31, they would pay for overnight shipping if needed. I agreed to keep the order placed. On Monday (December 27) I checked the order status online, it said the arrival date was January 7, 2005. I called gateway once again to see what the problem was and the first rep told me that they were waiting on the arrival of the case(Dec. 28), the hard drive (Dec 29) and the optical drive (Dec 31), and there was no way it would arrive on Dec 31.
I called the original salesman back and he said that information was incorrect and that the computer was in the completion phase and all parts are availiable and I should see the computer on Friday Dec 31. Of course on Friday, no computer so I called Gateway again and talked with a supervisor. He said they were still waiting on the arrival of the Video Card which was to arrive sometime the following week, and the earliest I could expect the computer was January 7. He sad he would send it overnight no charge. I am still waiting for a computer. What a joke, these guys are morons and have no idea what they are doing. I have done business with Dell and never had any problems. Never again will I do business with Gateway.
