Garnet Hill

I've been really disappointed with the quality of some of the items I've ordered from Garnet Hill recently.  The $268 down coat I bought this year came with a cheap plastic zipper that I'm sure would break within a couple of months.  The $128 sweater I recently purchased because I admired the one a friend has looks nothing like hers.  It's a bulky, cheaply made imitation.  And, it smelled as though it had been sprayed with something sweet to hide the strawlike scent of the wool. 

I wrote a fair review of the coat on the Garnet Hill site about month ago--guess what?  It never showed-up.  I just wrote one for the sweater I'm returning, but I'm sure that won't appear either.

From now on I think I'll just stick to buying their pajamas.

I ordered a gift card 12/2006 from Garnet Hill and paid extra to have it shipped one day. They sent it regular mail. When I called to follow up on the day after it was scheduled to arrive, they explained the mistake and offered to ship out another card. Unfortunately even though I called before 5pm, they didn't send out the package until the following day meaning yet another day delay. Customer service was no help. Even though I provided my work number to customer service, they left messages on my home answering machine. This is one of the few company web sites (as opposed to a mom & pop shop) that does not offer customers a shipping tracking number. Had Garnet Hill provided this information, I would have caught the error early on. A coworker then told me she had a problem with their web site earlier in the year. She placed an order and it was shipped to the wrong address. The items are nice and of good quality but the company's operations system is quite amateur. Use extreme caution when ordering from this web site.

I found Garnett Hill through Shopping.com and I'm very glad I did!! They had the shoe I wanted in the size I needed for the lowest price I could find online. My shoes arrived within 5 days of order placement, which I am very pleased with. I will definitely shop Garnett Hill again!
