They are not honest. Their customer service is pathetic. I returned two items from a large order and they credited the small item, but not the large $399 item. I returned the large item without ever having opened the box when I found I could get it for $100 less. I even had the signature of the person who received it at their warehouse. When I followed up when the credit did not appear on my card, they refused to investigate by contacting the employee who signed for it and insisted on the tracking number, which I had misplaced. Fortunately, I had shipped using a commercial mailing service (Postal Annex) and they keep a record of every shipment, who shipped it, where it went and the tracking number, so they retrieved it for me. When I called Gaiam back with the tracking number, then they agreed to call their warehouse and investigate, but still never admitted to receiving it. When I only had the name of their employee who signed for it, they refused to investigate. I find this response disingenuous and certainly not the type of company I feel comfortable dealing with. I have purchased several items from them in the past and now when I have a problem, their response is like falling into a black hole. Fortunately for me, I shipped using an independent service and with a credit card. I will wait a few days and if no credit appears on the card, I will contact my credit card company directly and dispute the charge. This is pathetic.
