A bad lesson learned the hard way...stay away!!

Yet another Internet scam. That maybe a little harsh, but it's another lesson I have learned about what to buy over the Internet and what not to. I purchased a dining set from them in Nov '07. I knew by the price that it would obviously not be top of the line but still expensive nonetheless. After a few months of normal kitchen use, there were obvious problems with the finish, or lack thereof. I have worked with natural wood since I was very young and have years of woodworking experience to know what to expect from this material. We called Furniturebuzz with a warranty question and they instructed me I would have to call the manufacturer since they do not handle warranty claims. WHAT??? NO WHERE on their website states this contrary to numerous claims from customer service. So, I called the manufacturer, knowing the outcome but doing so nonetheless. I was of course told they could not work with me, I need to call furniturebuzz and the ping-pong game began. I, the consumer, was thrown back and forth between the two pointing fingers making me suffer. I tend to side with the manufacturer in that furniturebuzz buys from them and then sells to me and does no dealings with the end user. Long story short, I did receive a SMALL refund for the defective table, but I had no way to tell if that truly covered it since they would not tell me the value or cost of the table as opposed to the entire set. I was told, "Since the item was discontinued, we have no way of telling the cost of the item". WHAT?? An Internet company has no way of telling what they paid a manufacturer less than a year ago for an item? It's 2008, upgrade your computers!! Everyone knows furniture discontinues fast yet they made it out as though I bought this years ago. And, do they not have an accounting system to credit back the actual cost of the table? Aggravating since customer service was VERY unpleasant and seemed as though they had no interest in helping.

So, yet another learning experience about a company and hope that others read this prior to purchasing any item from them as they should do their homework first and look at all the other ratings and feed back out there as I should have done!
