My husband is a crazed soccer player. In the winter, he plays in one indoor league; but in the summer, he's sometimes involved with up to four different soccer teams. This year is no different, he's involved with a high school alumni soccer team, a work team (indoor) and a local team.
He wears cleats for the outdoor soccer and Adias Sambas for indoor soccer. With all the playing he does, its no wonder he goes through a pair of each every couple of years.
This year, I decided that he was in desperate need of a new pair of Sambas. (The big toe hole where I could see his socks sticking out were a blatant hint) So at Christmas time, when someone forwarded me a Footlocker.com coupon, I thought I'd check out the site and consider buying him his shoes right there.
Confusing design; does it matter?
The first thing I remember noticing was that the design was kind of confusing. I went back to visit the site in honor of writing this epinion and I notice it hasn't changed. I decided to test out trying to find a few pairs of shoes though, and didn't have a problem.
Considering that it's an online shoe store - I suppose, if you can find what you are looking for, that's the harm in poor Web design. As long as it isn't hard on the eyes, I can't complain. And I was able to find what I was looking for in a matter of minutes.
Footlocker is a specific store selling a specific product -- sports and casual shoes. Since the diversity of the product offered isn't all that broad, even if you visit the site unsure of what you wish to purchase, you can still find the various types of shoes available easily enough.
Better price than real life!
I got a better deal online than I would have in real life. I had a 20%-off Friends and Family coupon. Even with shipping, the shoes ended up being cheaper than they would have been in store.
Even without the coupon, I found that the price of the shoes listed was comparable to sale prices at other shoe stores.
In fact, I went to several stores in person where they were charging $5-10 more for the same pair.
Best shipping around
I tend to do my online shopping in waves - I won't buy anything for months, and then I'll go onto several different sites and buy a bunch of items. Of course, in December, I'm always buying more.
I specifically remember that the day I purchased from Footlocker.com, I went and bought from several other sites.
The shoes arrived first, days and days before any other items arrived. They were packaged neatly in a box that actually fit into our mailbox!
Also, you can check
order status online, but I never had the need to do so since my order came so quickly.
The bottom line
Although I don't think that shoes are one of the most ideal purchases to make online, if you are thinking of doing it, I think Footlocker.com offers a great experience -- decent prices, reliable shipping.
