Although I have shopped in the Foot Locker stores many times, this is my first experience ordering online from the company's website, and so far, it has been thoroughly frustrating.
Last Friday, April 2nd, I placed an order for one pair of sneakers. At the time the order was placed, the website indicated that the product was in stock in this size. The website also states on the Shipping info page that "When you select the Standard method of shipping your order will be shipped within 24 hours of receipt and in most cases the order will be shipped the same day you place your order, subject to credit approval". This statement led me to believe that my order would be shipping on Monday, April 5, at the latest (if not on Friday 4/2, the day the order was placed).
However, when I checked my order status the next day (Saturday, April 3), I saw that the status had been changed to 1 UNIT(S) READY TO SHIP, but had not shipped. I checked again Monday and saw the status had not changed. Again, today (Tuesday, 4/6) I checked the order status again. Again, it had not changed.
At this point I decided to call and check on my order. I was informed by a customer service representative that this product was low on stock and when that happened, "they had to give the warehouse a few extra days to find the order". The representative told me I would have to call back on Friday of this week to see if the warehouse was able to find the shoes or not. I explained that this was unacceptable, and I would like to cancel my order if they would not be able to fill it. The representative told me that canceling was impossible because the invoice had already printed and that I would just have to wait until the end of the week and see if the order could be filled or not.
I then asked to speak with a supervisor. The supervisor told me the same thing I would just have to wait until Friday (one week from the time the order was initially placed!) to see if my order would even be filled or not, and it was impossible to cancel the order now. He also assured me that my credit card would NOT be charged until the order shipped (if it ever shipped at all).
I then called my credit card company to find out if there was anything I could do to cancel the order on my end and keep my card from being charged (if they ever did decide to get around to filling my order). To my surprise, my bank informed me that my credit card had already been charged the full amount on April 2, the day I had originally placed the order!
So, here is where I am now:
- I have no shoes
- I am out my money
- I dont know when (if ever) the shoes will arrive.
I am very disappointed to have been blatantly lied to by the false claims on the footlocker.com website. The site promises hassle-free online shopping and that the order will be shipped within 24 hours of receipt, neither of which were true. I will surely never place another order on this website again, and will also avoid the Foot Locker stores in my local shopping center like the plague. Why should I give my business to a company like this, when there are so many competitors who would be happy to take my money? I will also be sure to warn all of my friends and family about Foot Locker so that they wont have to go through the same headaches that I did when I did business with the company.
