I placed 2 orders in April, 2007.
I ordered a pair of very expensive specialty shoes to be shipped to my aunt in a nursing home in Illinois. They were too big for her so she returned them for a smaller size. They billed my credit card an additional $6.95. Pretty steep, in my opinion, since I'd already paid a pretty hefty shipping charge. But the worst part was, they sent the shoes to me in Ohio instead of to my aunt in Illinois. I called to ask why and the customer service rep didn't answer. I asked again why they did that and she hung up on me. It cost me another $5.85 to send them to Auntie in Illinois.
Then, the unthinkable - it happened again! The lady in Wisconsin I ordered a pair of Crocs for also returned hers for another size and they did it to me again -- shipped the replacement pair to me in Ohio instead of to the original shipping address. So again, I had to arrange my schedule to drive to the post office when it was open and pay $4.50 to mail them. The reason I placed these orders online in the first place was to save me having to run around town and the hassle of shipping them myself.
I wrote to Footsmart a week ago and, of course, have received no response. Bottom line is, they have my money (nearly $200) and I have a bad taste in my mouth. Unless you know that you absolutely won't have to make a return or an exchange, I'd go to shoebuy.com or zappos.com or any number of online merchants who treat their customers with respect and integrity.
