Like many other reviewers have stated, I also remain somewhat wary about shipping, HOWEVER, based on my experiences with Fogdog I'm willing to shop the site again.

The worst experience I've had with the site was when ordering an elliptical machine--it arrived right on time, but the box was quite banged up and actually looked like it had been water damaged prior to shipping; I do not think the carrier had anything to do with the damage to the box. That said, after putting the machine together, we'd only lost one screw and one nut, and had serviceable replacements in our hardware container at home.

The benefits I've found shopping with Fogdog far outweigh this one (slightly) disappointing experience. Those benefits...

Price--not only did the elliptical machine sell for $40 less than the advertised sale price at Dick's (bricks & mortar store), Fogdog also offered free delivery on any item over $75. I've also been pleased with prices of bathing suits (Dolphin brands are cheapest anywhere on the web) and cycling shorts --I've only occasionally found less expensive, comparable shorts in the clearance pages at NASHBAR's site. Also, cycling gloves--while not as comprehensive a selection as at the dedicated cycling sites, I found what I wanted for $9.99 --a better pair of gloves than at your local discount retailer, and they came in size small at Fogdog. This is a benefit to me, since I'm small-framed, and it seems like most retailers stock just medium and large sizes these days.

Customer Service--haven't had to use it but the site makes a lot of promises. I wasn't home when the elliptical was delivered, but the site promised delivery included bringing the machine inside AND up or down a flight of stairs. This sounded great--even just bringing it in would have been nice--the box weighed 96 lbs. Also welcome--the site includes a phone number to talk to real, live human beings in customer service. Again, I haven't taken advantage of this service yet, but it's a promising claim that appeals to this shopper.

Site appeal--the site offers good performance and is generally quite user-friendly.

Based on my experiences to date (3 purchases, all arriving on time, only one in not-great condition) I'll definitely shop Fogdog again.
