Foto-Tronix send reconditioned Garmin GPS that were sold as “NEW”

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY - FOTO-TRONIX! They advertise their products to be NEW, but they send you reconditioned ones and hope you do not know better.

I bought what was stated as a “NEW” Garmin GPS from Foto-Tronix in June of 2008 and received a reconditioned GPS. The GPS unit came in a white generic Garmin box instead of the original Garmin box specifically designed for that model number. I called Garmin and they said that the GPS had been reconditioned in December of 2007.

After a couple of emails back and forth with the company they finally told me I could return the GPS within 5 day, however I had already left for vacation (hence the need for a GPS). They now refused to take it back because 5 days have elapsed. By the way, they do not have a phone number listed on their website, so there is not way to try to plead your case with them. They just stop answering their emails.

I had read that another person had received a reconditioned GPS from Foto-Tronix (and that should have been enough of a warning), but when I saw the word “NEW” in the description I though that there is no way that they would send me a reconditioned one where they have it stated clear as day as “NEW”. Well folks, I was wrong. So take this as a warning, if you want new GPS, DON’T BUY FROM FOTO-TRONIX!
