I'm almost sure that a good number of the positive reviews are actually from Ectaco employees themselves.
I had purchased a product after Christmas, to be sent by one-day delivery to Canada because it was a late gift for someone I knew in the country in which I work now, South Korea. I was leaving two days hence, and so I needed to receive it right away. Actually, I ordered it with a day to spare (so three days ahead) and got one-day delivery to get it on time, just in case something messed up and it took one more day.
To my dismay, they had to verify all these unnecessary details about my credit card, calling the bank and double-checking billing address and whatever else. I still complied to these demands, as I wanted to purchase this product for my friend. All went through, a representative even called me, and it was confirmed that I would receive it the next day.
I never received it at all in the few days left, and I had to leave for South Korea once again.
Once settled, I called in the middle of the night, due to the time difference, because I had corresponded with them to arrange another address. Never was I informed that I had to provide other extraneous information because it was now considered an 'international order.' The number was not toll free, I wasted ten minutes on hold and extravagant long distance charges, only to find out that I couldn't get it delivered to me unless I provided copies of a whole load of stuff. I was surprised they didn't ask me for my social security number.
So here's the gist: I paid for it, abided by unneccessary demands, didn't receive it on time even though promised and leaving a buffer period just in case... only to have myself stay awake late at night before a big work day and waste money on a call to get a refund due to incredibly strict verification procedures.
Do NOT order from this company, as they do not care about the customer at all.
