Ecomelectronics. My real experience.

This is a real review of ecomelectronics. I ordered a Panasonic TH-50PZ850u Plasma TV from them.

There are quite a few five check mark "Oh they were perfect" reviews on ecomelectronics here on epinoins. I really can't believe that all of these are real for one simple reason. I just can't believe that anyone who makes a purchase from ecom, and writes a review, could fail to mention the "We need more info to complete your order" e-mails and phone calls. These e-mails and calls are NOTHING more than a way to get you to listen to a sales pitch prompting you to buy more stuff.

In my case my order was delayed by a few days by not getting back to them so I could get them the "Info" that they needed. Which, By the way, Turned out to be my credit card security code. Totally ridiculous. This could have been gotten at the time of the order and saved me days of waiting.

So as it turns out, My order was delayed for no other reason than to listen to a salesman try to get me to spend more.

I spoke to a man named Tom. Tom was a nice guy, I'll give him that. After about two minutes on the phone, I started to realize what was going on. "You need a good power supply for this TV. Do you have one? "I think this TV looks good with a wall mount. Do you have one?" Hdmi cables "Oh you need the new ones" and warranty's and on and on. After turning down everything Tom said "Fine, let me get your order conformation number" OK. Three minutes on hold later he came back on and then informed me that my order conformation number just happened to be the same as my order number! Right. He then proceeded to give me some spiel about me being a new customer and the deals he could get me. Anyway to make a long story short I ended up buying a three year in home warranty that he did get me a good price on. Did I need it? Probably not. But what the heck. I just wanted to get off the phone and get my TV. Is the warranty good? I guess we will see if I ever have to use it.

This honestly was the only problem I had with ecomelectronics. After the call my order was processed quickly and shipped quickly. I received my TV in perfect condition in a few days and I live in Florida (Ecom is in New York). But if I had not bought the warrenty.... Who knows. Thats a big question for me and the reason I can't really say that I'd recommend them. If I hadn't gotten the warranty, would my order have been delayed? Out of stock? Anything to get me back on the phone to listen to more sales pitches? Like I said, Who knows.

On the up side, They did have a great price on this TV and the shipping was free. Like I said, The TV is perfect and I love it. And it got here fairly quickly after it was shipped.

I don't know that I'd order from them again. I guess that if they had a great deal on something and I thought I could put up with the sales call, I might. But it would have to be a great deal.

I had no trouble with this order after it was shipped. (Thank god). So I can't comment on whether on not the customer service and support is any good. I've read a few reviews on this subject though, and they seem to be mixed.

I hope this helps some of you out. They wouldn't be bad if it wasn't for the ridiculous sales calls and the delays that are caused by them.
