I was in the market for an auto loan and after some research, decided to apply at capital one and e-loan. Both have a 15 minute reply and similar rates. I applied at both places hoping to get the best deal on my loan. I have a high credit score and stable job so I was not concerned about getting approved.
As promised, capital one emailed me within 15 minutes to tell me that I was approved and the loan terms. They followed up with a phone call to ask if I had any questions and clarify any details.
E-loan did not respond at all. After about an hour, I called in to make sure that they had received my application. The representative told me that my application was never received (they had been experiencing problems with the server). Ok, so I filled out the application once again online (it might have been worth it if the rates were lower than capital one) and after another hour still had not heard back. I decided to just give my business to capital one and gave no more thought to it.
About 7 hours later, I got 2 application confirmation emails and one denial of credit. The denial of credit email contained a link to the e-loan website to get information on requesting a credit report. After I logged in to e-loan, there was no information on the denial and my loan status was still listed as unprocessed. I had clicked on the link in the denial email to get here!
Overall, I am disappointed in the service and application process at e-loan. If you are in the market for an auto loan, I suggest you go with capital one. They were easy to work with and actually followed through.
