I had a bulb fail on my WD-62825 Mitsubishi DLP television, a normal occurrence, prompting me to locate a replacement. Locally, the bulb (and housing it comes in) was offered by a retailer for over $300.00; nearly one hundred dollars more than the same part offered by the manufacturer. After some research on the internet I noted that not only was this clearly WAY too much to pay for the replacement bulb & assembly, I also found that Discount Merchant had the best price for an original equipment replacement bulb for my set; I could replace only the bulb, with some very minor tinkering, and manage to save over half of what a local retailer would charge for the whole part. Not only did Discount Merchant offer an original bulb at the best price, the transaction was easy! Amazingly enough, the product shipped within an hour of me placing my order; the bulb arrived as promised via USPS 2 days later.
Upon arrival, I noted that the bulb was well packaged and came undamaged. Some labeling on the box led me back to the Discount Merchant site to get directions to do the bulb exchange. The directions were great; the photographs shown in the simple step-by-step process where of a replacement for my actual TV model; not just generic directions. I completed the bulb exchange in a minimal amount of time with a minimal number of tools: basically a Phillip's screw driver and a pair of pliers. I turned on my TV and behold... it worked! I'm a happy guy; a great experience courtesy of a great company.... thanks Direct Merchant!
Update (5/7/8): The price I paid for the bulb was $119.99 + S&H plus applicable state tax; I paid extra S&H to get the bulb earlier, which arrived on-time as promised. It is important to reiterate that this is the same bulb offered by the manufacturer, minus the housing which can be reused (see above mention of tinkering); this was a well explained and easy process if you visit Discount Merchant's web-page. The amount I saved by going with Direct Merchant vs. the manufacturer or another retailer (selling an aftermarket bulb) is still substantial; somewhere in the neighborhood of $50.00 dollars... well worth any time spent tinkering!
