Shopped with Design Toscano eons ago when they were "new" and in September 07, did two extensive online purchases for accessories for myself and for a photo shoot. They sell reproductions of hard-to-find historical items of several periods and geographies (e.g., European Renaissance, ancient Egypt, Asian, Victorian era, African tribal, more). Some are resin, some are authentic metals, alloys, or solid woods, and they are careful to identify components and inclusions honestly. It's not easy to find low, middle, and high medieval period items, especially for picky historians, and it's nice to know Design Toscano does the job. Of course, they also sell some things I wouldn't have in my home, but you can't blame them for the Victorian era producing some tacky design, and it's not the issue here. Their packing was exceptional, delivery was within 10 days, they were easy to talk to via phone and e-mail: they answered my questions with knowledge and "niceness." One item was backordered, but came within an additional week. They also do something that many online sellers are forgetting to do: provide the dimensions! The goods are exactly as described in the catalog and online... after these two recent experiences, I would consider purchasing one of the ornate, more expensive wood furniture items in the future.
