Ordered replacement laptop AC power adapter to be shipped 2nd day air. Dell didn't notify DHL so it went regular way (apparently slow boat). After 4 hours on phone over two days with various "customer service" reps & managers they finally contacted DHL

On 11/23 ordered 30 gig Brown Zune(bargain $96/free shipping) received email stating the product was out of stock and would not ship until 12/17. To my surprise I received order yesterday 12/11 and without me ever contacting them they substituted the Brown Zune for a White one at no additional cost. There was a nice letter apologizing for the delay and for the substitution.

I ordered a dell D630 laptop.
After placing the order I was told there was a shortage on the monitors. I then asked if I could change my order to a different monitor so as to get a faster delivery. I was told there was no part shortage for the D830 so I did as I was told. I canceled the old order and placed a new order. this was done on the 14th August 2007. On the 20th August 2007 I phoned dell to find out whats happening with my order. I was told my order had gone past the pre-production stage and was put in production on the 17th of August 2007.I inquired on what that meant and was told that all the parts for assembling the laptop were available and busy being assembled. On the 23rd of August 2007, 7 working days after I placed the order I received a mail from dell saying my laptop was never in production because there was a part shortage on the new monitor I ordered! They said the part would come in on the 27th. It is now the 28th and the laptop is still in pre-production. |

The reviews here run from "Nevermore" to excellent. I have bought three computers from Dell and have been extremely satisfied. I strongly suggest to use there Small Business ordering service, if at all possible.
If the machine you buy qualifies for their Gold Service, you could not ask for better service. It is U.S. based and staffed by very knowledgable folks. In short, I have been very satisfied with Dell. |

Dell posted the lowest price for an inkjet printer cartridge so I proceeded to try to buy it. Supposedly, the price included tax and shipping. When I got to the point of checking out, there was a $5 charge on top of the price they had quoted. I contacted a sales rep and he said it was for "handling."

I just spent about 2 hours on a Saturday afternoon talking (actually, mostly sitting on hold) to a very polite lady in India who had absolutely no clue about what she was doing. My brand new Dell arrived earlier this week with a defective DVD drive. After two hours of wandering around on my system via remote "assistance", stalling, asking and re-asking the same questions, and placing me on hold, she finally agreed that the drive is no good.
This is my fourth Dell. There won't be a fifth. |

Ordered a Fuji digital camera online. Only problem was packing was very poor: item was in a small box, which was then placed in a shipping box about double the size, AND only one lousy sheet of crumbled paper was used. Smaller box easily moved around inside.

I think Dell is a horrible company. I have bought three computers from them in the last two years and will never buy another. They falsely advertise free shipping and then want to charge $8 for a small object to ship. Dell is a sorry excuse for a company.

The purchase from Dell was a big mistake. The product is good but the service the worst of its kind. They seemed to have sent me a rebate over five times now and I have not even received one of them. Call it coincidence or fraud! They just transfer you around and make your life miserable. Avoid buying from these folks as they do not even bother to mend the way they have treated you after having made several calls to find the rebate status. The Customer service associates hang up whenever you confront them with the truth of what happened.
If there was a negative rating I would have placed it there. :( |

Ordered a Canon camera through the Dell.com website, which stated that the item was in stock and shipping would be 3-5 business days. After I ordered, I was told that the shipping wouldn't happen for another 15 days because they did not have the item in stock. On that promised day, Dell called to state it would be at the minimum another week, and they couldn't guarantee that either. I cancelled my order. What a waste of my time.

Dell tend to offer low prices, but they make you pay for that. Their products are invariably clunky or badly made. I returned printers, mp3 players and notebooks to them over the years, and though the email support is good, they are rarely apologetic for faulty products. They also have a tendency to omit products from their site just after you have purchased them; presumably getting rid of inventory. You are then referred to online forums which rarely solve your particular problem. I spent a decade using Windows on Dells, they drove me to buy a Mac. It cost more, for sure, but its worth the peace of mind and quality of product.

Yesterday I received Dell's 2006 Holiday Gift Guide. It contains 2 coupons, 1 for 10% off select orders of $200-399 and one for 15% off select orders of $400 or more. The offer only excludes ink, toners, and software. Well, when I selected the Dell Dimension desktop I wanted to purchase online, I contacted the online customer chat service to see how I could redeem the coupons. Both online and telephone customer service reps told me I cannot use the coupons without a "coupon code," which is non-existent.
Pretty clever of Dell to include coupons that can never be redeemed. This kind of deception used to reel in customers is tantamount to false advertising. Shame on Dell. Gateway, here I come! |

My computer was running very slow even though I had high speed. After consulting with a Dell specialist, it was determined that I needed to increase the memory. The part was ordered and delivered within three days. Once installed, my computer is running better than it ever has. I was very satisfied with Dell's service.

I found Dell to be the best option when I purchased a computer. There were so many choices when I built the computer, the price was right, and I found the sales rep who spoke with me to be very helpful. And when my computer came, I called for some help setting it up and it's worked well ever since.
