I ordered a CD drive replacement for my wife's laptop, Inspiron 3200. The FIRST shipment was to the WRONG ADDRESS, WRONG TOWN, everything was wrong. The SECOND shipment would not work...the computer would not "recognize" the drive. The tech help person was in INDIA....yes, not Indiana...INDIA. They spoke and wrote atrocious English. The third drive was the exact same one as the second drive, namely the wrong part. FINALLY, after about 5 weeks, someone from Dell "Executive Support" called, and admitted they were shipping me the wrong drive, "because"...are you ready for this.."the right drive is no longer available." "Find an aftermarket external drive" was his suggestion. POOOOEY ON DELL.

I recently purchased a DELL INSPIRON 1100 from DELL online. It was easy to order, watch the build process and track shipping all online. Turn around time was quick. I am waiting for my $250 rebate and hope that that is received timely as well.

I had a good enough experience getting a computer system but when I bought something else and tried to cancel since it wouldn't ship for a month I had to endure 7 or 8 transfers of my calls all over the world without resolution the first time. Calling the next day was the same but I finally got someone to cancel. Not good, in my opinion.

Whether its been a tech help or straight online have had
no problem with what ordered and what came. The only bad experience was with a Inspirion 5000e notebook that was total junk when new and still after almost total replacement by Dell. As for the repair parts coming, whether sent to me or the in home tech as part of the extra warranty paid for came in a timely manner as did the tech himself. The site ordering process is rated good, not a breeze, but not that confusing overall. You can print what you have specified before submitting. |

So I needed a new computer, after checking different computer stores I signed on to Dell, selection was pretty good for one company name. I was able to built a computer that I really needed, with right amount of memory and right accessories called Dell few times before placing an order, and I found out about REBATES, Dell does not always have rebates on line, but call costumer rep.Over all I got two computers from them, and Im very satisfied. Easy to built, if you don't understand computer lingo call or e-mail Dell. Delivery on time, option for free delivery, all needed accessories. Dude I got a Dell...

Go to the Dell.com customer service board before ordering anything. LOTS of problems that never get addressed, and lots of people that have LONG stories to tell.
My only issue was that they promised delivery on one date, and got one of the three packages to me 2 days early, then marked the other as delayed, with no estimated date. The second package arrived on the originally promised date, but with no notice ever being posted on the website, so no one was home to sign for it, so it was sent back for a day and then delivered to my neighbor's. Lots of similar stories on the Dell.com support pages. Overall, I would say it was a good experience, but read the board first to make sure your product isn't one of the ones with lots of horror stories. |

An order including a digital camera, a Canon CP-200 printer, and accessories was processed and shipped incredibly quickly. The problem was that the printer was not included. The website (and this website) gave no indication that they weren't in stock. When I checked my order status, I found that the printer was not in stock, with no information about a shipping date. After waiting a week, I called Dell to ask two simple questions: (1) when will it be in stock, and (2) is an alternate available? This resulted in a 28 minute phone call, punching multiple buttons, and talking with three people. None could answer either question. The last person promised to call the manufacturer and call me back. This is not a hard-to-find printer: it is available at my neighborhood Office Depot at the same price, and they have at least a dozen of them. Dell's website needs to be accurate.

at first i was notified that i would receive the digital camera that i had ordered for in at most 12 days. when the product hadn't been shipped, i contacted the customer service center and folks there seemed to have no clue about what they were talking about. frustrated, i sent them an email, and this time i got an apologetic reply stating that they couldn't even give me an approximate date as to when they could send the product. which means, i might have to wait forever for all one knows ! my suggestion is: stay away from dell. |

Dell "Customer Care" does not care. I order a Dell Inspiron on the web on 12th November, the order has still not been placed today, 11th. December. Dell used the wrong expiry date on my credit card on 4 occasions. I am on my 3rd order number, why such a complex way of re-inputting the correct date, I can't understand.
Replies to complaints are non existent. Promises to reply to e-mails within 4 hours or next working day are a joke. Promises to return phone calls are also a joke. Next time I will buy from a local store and deal with a human being. |

I ordered a Dell Inspiron 5100 at dell.com and I received it a week early with no problems.
The laptop is wonderful. However at the same time as I ordered, my boyfriend ordered a Dell Inspiron 600m which he received two weeks late. The laptop power adapter cord malfunctioned and it took two weeks and several calls to customer service. They did send a new one but it took about a week more than they said. Despite the bumps, ordering from Dell is so very much cheaper than buying at an electronics store and very reliable. |

I have ordered a digital camera. They shipped a junk camera which did not even powered on first time. Calling technical support or customer service is the worst nightmare in the world. After two days and endless hours of phone calls, finally one customer service agent arranged for exchange order. He was prompt to promise that the new order will be delivered next day.
Later I got email confirmation that the order is placed next day. I called up the next day (the day camera supposed to be delivered), the new agent to my surprise said that the order is just placed that day, so will not be shipped until next five days ! As you have guessed I canceled the order. Through out the conversation with the customer service and tech support, I felt they are very rude, cheap and unprofessional. |

Purchasing from Dell is a sure-thing. I bought the Coolpix 2100 on a two-day 10% off accessory special promotion, and enjoyed the usual free shipping and no tax advantages. Dell is completely professional about all of their sales, and all paperwork and followup were included.
I especially appreciated their account tracking. When I needed a proof of purchase for the product, I simply pulled it up from the "My Account" portion of the web site. They do not provide warranty service for third party accessories beyond 30 days, but that is not a negative. |

After avoiding this company for many years in favor of locals, I was seduced by pricing on a laptop for my wife's office. I cannot believe that I received this fantastic laptop in a matter of like 6 short days! I then went on to get an 18" LCD monitor, once again, fast as a speeding bullet and a wonderful, versatile product. Over time I have ordered several other items and eventually a Power Edge server. I am very happy with all of my purchases from Dell! My one call to customer service was treated promptly and with courtesy!
Back when I originally wrote this review, I believed all of the above. That has all changed and the love affair with Dell is absolutely over!! I have experienced premature failure or other issues with all Dell products which I bought. A call to tech support was long wait and a noisy connection which was inaudible. That Dimension 2400 has since "died" on me (light use, 2 years) as has the power edge server been pulled out of service because it was "junk". The Laptop works fine, but I have been advised by DELL not to install SP 2!! |

Bought a Dell 8200 Computer with all the trimmings. Received e-mail notification as well as status via Dell's Web site. Noticed that I had ordered wrong software so called them up and asked them to switch. Not only did they switch this immediately, they moved the computer up in priority so the ship date was not affected by the change. They called me to let me know that the order had shipped and gave me UPS numbers for tracking. Arrived in 3 days instead of 5. Excellent customer service! Intend to use them again. Technical support is off-shore. The person on the phone was clueless, but when asked, her supervisor came right on and was very knowledgeable, answered all my questions immediately.

Awful!!! I needed to order more memory for my Dell computer and since it was urgent, I chose the next day delivery option for an extra $12 for a product that was estimated to ship the same day. What was my surprise when I received a confirmation that said that my order would not be shipped until 5 days after my order date! Talking to customer service got me no results as Dell's customer service has been very bad for me ever since I ordered my first computer (that first one was great). They told me that the item would not only not ship the same day, as estimated on the web page, but it was actually on back order. So in short, Dell's information was completely wrong on the web site. I did not expect the product to ship the same day, but at least the next day would have been nice. Now I have to wait for extra 6 days to get my 512 K memory sticks.

Ordered two systems, both shipped with wrong OS (Millenium instead of XPP)rendering them useless to me. Took over two weeks to be mailed the CD's. Opened the box, same freeking Millenium CD's I already had. Took almost two more weeks to get the right CD's. To late, I already bought Compaq's in the mean time. I'm sticking with Compaq. Dells customer service was extremely poor. Will never buy from Dell again.

Dell products are good. Dell tech help is good. Dell could learn a lot from McDonalds, Radio Shack and any number of businesses in the matter of customer care. They have taken disregard for the post buy consumer to new highs. In a grand cost saving measure, all contact on the phone goes through an incredible matrix of misdirected prompts. I've tried to reach a real person for repair of an Inspiron 1100 for weeks. Finally got an email through - to which they replied that they searched it with artificial intelligence! No, that's what the VP of Customer Service has. The AI solution is probably more responsive. Does the phrase beta test mean anything? Can they figure out that an unhappy customer tells 20 people and a happy one tells one? What we have here is "business as usual" a mediocre and non ISO compliant company.

I bought a Lexmark multifunction printer in September. It arrived a few days after my surgery. I did not opened the printer until last week. It is apparently a defective item: (i) it pulls in several sheets of paper (ii) will not pick up incoming faxes (iii) and it was sold and returned to Dell before shipping to me as evidenced by the transaction report. I requested a return for a different printer, Dell refused to exchange for another printer, only for a like kind. The Lexmark is cumbersome and has defects, I would rather have a Canon or another brand. The representative basically said I am stuck with the printer.
