COMP-U-PLUS' PRACTICE OF GOOD PRICES ON MERCHANDISE BUT SHOCKINGLY HIGH SHIPPING CHARGES IS TANTAMOUNT TO BAIT-AND-SWITCH.

So I needed a digital camera, and right away. My purchase was a digi-cam and a few add-ons (about 2lbs. of merchandise packed into a standard FedEx box with plenty of room to spare).

For FedEx standard overnight, Comp-U-Plus charged me shipping of $99.95!! The actual FedEx rate is $35.70. They almost tripled the actual shipping charge!

Outrageous. Stupidly excessive. Clearly deceptive.

For my part, yes, I was an idiot. I hurriedly phone ordered and did not force the operator to split out all charges, including shipping. (On the other hand, the operator didn't split out the charges of his volition as most vendor operators do. Gee, I wonder why?)

Other elements of the purchase were fine. I have timely received all merchandise. Their (merchandise) prices and selection were very good. Outside of the shipping, I have no complaints.

I encourage you to learn from my mistake. If you use this vendor, absolutely positively make them spell out every penny they're charging you -- especially for shipping.

I will never use this merchant again. I cannot abide the inherent deception of this kind of back-end "gotcha." I will give my business and dollars to honest, principled vendors, of which this firm clearly is not.
