Terrible...avoid CompactAppliance.com

I agree with liberty1943, Sep 08 '05. CompactAppliance.com is a "no-go". The portable air conditioner I bought was misrepresented on their web site - it is not no-drip, and it noise rating is 56, not 53. The machine sounds like sitting in a open cock-pit twin turbo bi-plane. After 4 hours of being on, I emptied nearly a quart of water from the machine. I returned it the same day I received it. Eric, CompactAppliance.com's customer "dis"-service manager (if he is still working there), is a dead-end, one-way street. I would avoid CompactAppliance.com - it was an expensive education for me.

Terrible

I ordered an Edgestar 410 Portable Air conditioner through Compact Appliance. Upon arrival and installation, the unit will not blow cool air. It is obviously defective. I tried contacting Compact Appliance, but of course they referred me to Edgestar. Beware of both of these companies. You will get charged shipping back to an "authorized" repair facility. Also, good luck getting them to honor their return guarantee or the warranty. Please do not buy this unit, or any other unit from Compact Appliance. A box fan from Wal-Mart works just as well and much friendlier and honest employees will take care of you at Wal-Mart.

The worst service, please buy the product and get lost!

I purchased a EdgeStar portable AC it is the biggest toilet I have ever purchased in any appliance Compact Appliance was worthless NO HELP WHAT SO EVER!!!!! Pretty much you bought go to EdgeStar the unit leaked through the screws on the bottom of unit Edge star of course wants you to send unit at my cost to Texas to have it fixed at that point they will either fix it or send me a new one. I don't know about you I purchased an AC unit for the Summer not the Fall. So lets get this right, less than 40 days and used once it leaks, Compact Appliance says go to EdgeStar. What I have learned from the is even if it costs 60.00 more it is worth going to someone who will honor a warranty and someone close to service it. Please do not make the same mistake I have stay away From Compact Appliance and EdgeStar!!!!!!!!

Avoid unless you enjoy confrontation

CompactAppliance and Edgestar are one and the same shady company. They claim Edgestar products are the best, but in fact that is pure make belief. I owned an Edgestar 12,000 BTU a/c for about 2 weeks and it never once cooled down my small study below 82 degrees. The unit material quality and finish are really tacky and cheap in real life. Trying to return the unit to Edgestar was a circus. I got the worst runaround from CompactAppliance and got no response from Edgestar. Do your research on this company, you will see that many others have had the same bad experience. I wish I did my research before hand.

Very dissatisfied with the item and the level of service I received. Warning! Read the fine print! I received an item with concealed damage and I was not in town to contact compactappliance.com within 48 hours. No returns or exchanges after 48 hours! Make sure you inspect and test your items immediately! Better still, buy from a local store! Now I'm stuck with a brand new broken air conditioner that leaked water all over my wood floor!

Extremely poor customer relations and do not back products

Beware of CompactAppliance.com and their relatioship with Franklin products. In my case I bought a Franklin outdoor refrigerator that was defective from the day it was installed. Franklin refuses to provide warranty service and Compact Appliance plays the I can't hlp you retailer" who just suggests they call Franklin again. They are apparently closely tied to Franklin as it is the only outdoor refrigerator in their web site with any reviews and all of those are glowing. The outsourced review company call PowerReviews reuses to post an adverse review on this refrigerator. Stay away from bothe Franklin and CompactApliance.com

AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE!

BUYER BEWARE - PURCHASED AN ICEMAKER - RECEIVED ICEMAKER - IT WORKED FOR EXACTLY ONE WEEK - HAD TO CONTACT MANUFACTURER AS PER COMPACT APPLIANCE - RETURNED TO MANUFACTURER - MANUFACTURER SAID IT WORKED AND NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT - MANUFACTURER RETURNED TO ME - PLUGGED ICEMAKER IN - NOTHING! CONTACTED MANUFACTURER - THEY SAID SORRY NOTHING ELSE WE CAN DO FOR YOU! HAD TO RETURN USELESS NON WORKING UNIT TO COMPACT APPLIANCE - HAD TO PAY TO SHIP IT BACK - LOST ABOUT $100 ON THIS DEAL BESIDES ALL THE TIME AND AGGRAVATION. NEVER NEVER AGAIN!

I first ordered this item from a different online store. They wrote me back and said it would be back ordered for two weeks and gave me the chance to get it else where. I then found it on Compact appliance. I called them on the phone and they said they had nine comeing in the following monday and would get it to me in five days after that. After 2 1/2 weeks still no fridge. I am a builder and needed this to finish a job and get paid. I then tried to call and got no response. After three weeks I got a e-mail stating it had shipped on thursday. Waiting for it to arrive I finally got an e-mail one week after they said it shipped stating it was discontinued and I would not receive it. This is rediculous, now I am running around town tring to find one to fit in the opening that was custom built for that model. I find this company to be misleading and out right liers.

Ice maker was installed and worked...

Ice maker was installed and worked perfect for 4 days and then started leaking badly because hose behind ice bucket going up to freezing unit was not tighten at factory. I called compact and customer service was very nice and told me to contact Franklin. After I tighten nut on hose ice maker it would not work. I called Franklin and customer service person told me how to reset unit. It now works fine but it caused water damage when it flooded from the connection not be checked at factory. I am now very pleased with ICE Maker. I would recomend Copact and would use them to buy again.

Was inform that the product "would only take 7-10 business day to prossces" after the order was put in I have check the website and it told me it would ship out around 20 day later. I call the store and they tell me the product was out of stock. which the website at the following day say it was In stock. which all in all the website mislead people and the company can not grant any information regarding there products

I have purchased other items from them previously, they were fine. This LG washer/dryer does not function. Not only that but the trucking company that delivered it would not bring it to my home but made my husband drive down our lane with our truck and a dolly and remove the item from the semi, then take it to our house and unload it by himself. Therefore I feel that the $99.00 delivery charge was unjustified since they did not do the work. The delivery guy did nothing to deliver it, my husband did all the work.

Ordered item on 12/01...status at time of order was "in warehouse." Was given many ship dates, NONE CORRECT. Was supposed to be a Christmas gift!! Web site says usually ships in 1-10 business days! Was even called once by them and given a ship date of 12/23 or 12/24, after I contacted them online to verify Christmas delivery, which they could not guarantee, but I was offered no explanation or compensation. Item didn't ship until 12/31 and even then has taken another 8 days!! Finally will be receiving item tomorrow 01/08/04!! (per carrier) I had to track this item myself. I was NOT notified at any time by Compact Appliance that the item was going to be delayed. I am very displeased with this. I am still not able to comment on the condition/quality of the item, as I HAVE NOT RECEIVED IT YET!!

This company wasn't customer friendly. Prior to placing the order 5/31/2006, I personally called the rep. and was assured this item was in stock. This turned out to be a fabricated version of we don't have the item but we can get it in 4 weeks. I did find another vendor and was able to get the merchandise in within 2 days. Then, I had to demand that the Compact Alliance company, cancel my order, as if they had a choice.

Installation parts were missing that...

Installation parts were missing that had to be replaced by the manufacturer (compact appliance refused to be responsible for the missing parts.) Since I am STILL waiting for these parts, I don't know if I am going to get them or if I will ultimately keep the air conditioning unit in question. Customer service was not at all helpful and was extremely rude and irresponsible and treated me like dirt.

It was not clearly stated a pump was needed with the product. After 2 phone calls we were informed they could not supply us with a pump. After several attemps we found the correct pump, paid for it and the installation and now have cold water but no ice. In summary we have paid for an icemaker, a plumber and an electrician and still do not have a working ice maker.

I received a defective machine, which...

I received a defective machine, which CompactApplicance refused to fix or replace. They told me to bring it back and return it and then buy a new one. No one in Austin, Texas is authorized to make repairs on these units. A truly horrible experience!

Damaged goods

Ordered a compact refrigerator which arrived with upper rear corner sizeably dented in. Box was not noticeably damaged, so item was probably packed that way in China. CompactAppliance arranged return (at no charge to me) and refunded my money in full. Good customer service, but I fear they have no control of the quality of goods they sell.
