double bills on credit cards, watch your accounts

On 11/26/2009 I placed an order with compusa online,Order#
W8721738. On the same day a pending charge was put on my credit card and the item was shipped on 11/27/2009 according to my account with them. On 11/30/2009 I received an account alert, Compusa had again billed my credit card for the same order. Now the problem begins. Contacting the bank was told it is a pending charge twice and I should call Compusa. Compusa assured me the second charge would be removed the same day. After being on hold twice, was told it had been removed and I would see that it was taken care of before the end of the day. 48 hours later I contacted the card company again and made sure it would not be paid again, they had all ready been paid for the one billing. However the other pending charge will not be removed from my card for 7 days It will however not be paid. Watch your card account for double billing from this company. They will never get business from me again, after the way they have treated me. Gene |

I won't try compusa.com again

I will never shop at Compusa.com again. I ordered their "black Friday" WII bundle in the middle of the day Friday. Listing said it was in stock. Website said shipping was $7.
Instead they charged me $15 for shipping of partial bundle and never shipped the actual WII. Contacted them via email with no help - they said it was out of stock now and I could find something else to buy on their website, turns out the email came from "TigerDirect" and they gave a phone to call that went to TigerDirect and not CompUsa. Finally found another # on CompUsa website and after over a week canceled the rest of my order - that's the only part that went decent. The website said I could not return any of the items even though they never sent the main system of the bundle. |

1st they tried to tell me they would not honor my laptop service plan, grilled me about why the screen would not work. I came back over and over, and they said it was not ready, over and over. After months it turns out they lost it. The plan I purchased had a replacement computer, but they did not honor that. It was in for well OVER 3 months. They tried to say I never brought it in. when I produced a tag, they said they would call me back. Finally they went into the far reaches of hell (yes their shop!) and dragged it out. After getting it home, it still had the same problem. I brought it back, but they refused service...guess why...MY SERVICE PLAN HAD EXPIRED!
That,s the last time I made a purchase from this company they just don't give a dam about the customer, service or honesty! |

I found them to be dishonest and a bait and switch scam
by ajmidget, June 4, 2008

I find that the shopping search engine they use EXAVA and NEXTAG both will list that the shipping is free and then when you go to the site and add the item to your cart they then show that there is a shipping fee on the Item. I'm not sure who's doing this, EXAVA or Comp USA, but I find it very dishonest and a bait and switch scam so they can show as having the lowest price because they show the shipping is free. So either they need to have it updated with the shopping engines or stop being dishonest

I am VERY dissatisfied with COMPUSA after purchasing something online with their "apply and buy" option. I have had nothing but trouble. All of their 1800 numbers are awful. Extensive wait times and transfers when you discover they can't help you and that you need to try another number etc. I will NOT buy anything from this store again and if you decide to spend your money with them to not use their apply and buy option or do not bother called their many 800 numbers and count on getting the answers to questions that you need.

Don't count on getting the rebate they promise
by mech_engineer, October 8, 2007

The shopping experience was OK. The trying-to-get-my-$40- rebate experience was terrible. CompUSA has $40 of my money and has told me to kiss it goodbye.
I submitted my online rebate, using their poorly designed and sometimes-crashing rebate Web site. Since CompUSA provided 3 different tracking numbers (a web order #, an order #, and an invoice #) it took several tries. Last thing I knew, all was well. When the rebate didn't arrive, I called one number. Put on hold for 30 minutes and I gave up. I called another number. Was basically told "too bad" the rebate has now expired. My suggestion: don't buy anything from CompUSA where you hope to get a rebate as part of a "good deal." They're likely to keep your money and waste your time. |

My experience is that they only actually send out about half the rebates that are promised. The reason I buy from CompUSA online is that the store offers great prices (after rebates), but often they do not have the item in stock. You cannot get a rain

Bought a 19" Norwood Micro LCD Monitor from CompUSA online back in early 2006. Free shipping with a $100 eRebate. Received the monitor in about 6 days in fine condition. A great buy at $300 and some odd dollars. Crystal clear, fine contrast, and only one dead pixel. I understand it has a refresh rate of 8ms.
Filled out the rebate form right away and sent it in. I've never gotten it. Never will. But I didn't pursue it because I was so satisfied with the product. I even advised my brother to get one, which he did. He loves his, too, and NO dead pixels. He never got the rebate either. I will do business with CompUSA again, but not online. |

Service plan was a big disappointment, so inconvenient nobody would use

Disappointed. Bought service plan on laptop, salesman said covers battery. When I go to utilize the service plan because the Compaq battery life is down to 20 minutes....it is technically possible, but so inconvenient nobody would ever use it in their right mind. Must send in,pay for shipping, be without computer for 2 weeks. Don't be fooled as I was that CompUSA's service plan will be customer friendly at all!

I stupidly bought an expensive Compusa Laptop service plan.
Over one month to fix. My computer sat untouched for 2 weeks because they simply forgot to send it out.(They actually admitted this to me.) When they realized they forgot to send it out someone called me saying "your computer is almost ready" I could tell they were lying. If i had a time machine I would go back in time and make sure this Computer Superstore was never born. The worlds worst store. Only shop there as absolute last resort. Never ever buy their service plan unless you enjoy inflicting pain upon yourself |

CompUSA is NOT worth your trust

Here is my story. Ordered an item off their website that said would ship in 1 to 2 days. 2 weeks later, item still shows as "open" and not shipped. Sent an email as their site recommends to inquire. They never responded to the email. Now 3 weeks and item has still not shipped, call up customer service. They tell me that the warehouse informs him that the item is in the process of being shipped... will be shipped in a few hours. Check back several days later and the item STILL HAS NOT SHIPPED. Since it is only a $15 item, i am not freaking out, but I will never trust them after this experience.
My advice, use newegg.com as they are extremely trustworthy, honest, and have GREAT prices, mostly with no rebates to hassle with. I have ordered dozens of items worth thousands of dollars over the last 2 years and never once have I had a single problem... ever. |

CompUSA is a "bait-and-switch" retailer
by ibh4321, January 10, 2007

CompUSA is "bait-and-switch" especially regarding rebates. Be careful with these guys. I bought an item that advertised 2 rebates would be valid. My rebates were even both validated on CompUSA's erebates system. However, after it was too late to return the item, one of the rebates was suddenly invalidated for bogus reasons. CompUSA refuses to take responsibility for the rebates that they advertise. I would advise staying away from CompUSA with their sleazy "bait-and-switch" tactics.

Worst shopping experience ever!

CompUSA is without a doubt the worst place I've ever ordered something from. I ordered a Canon Rebel XTi digital camera (over $800 with shipping). It arrived just thrown in a box with the only packing material consisting of a short strip of Fill-Air with every cell blown out (in other words, no effective packing material at all). Customer service was completely unhelpful and displayed the same uncaring attitude shown by the person who packed the box and nearly every sales associates in their stores. This was my final straw with CompUSA. I'm never shopping from them again and despite the glowing review from someone below, I urge everyone to watch out when dealing with these jerks! Without a doubt the WORST customer service I've ever experienced (and that includes the DMV!)!

First and last online purchase attempt with CompUSA
by sndkraft, December 10, 2006

On November 27, 2006 at 8:00am Eastern Time I made an online purchase for a Viewsonic lcd monitor that was advertised special for that "Cyber Monday".
I received an emailed invoice with conformation of purchase. After 5 days of not receiving any shipping info I called and they said it was still being processed and would ship very soon. After the next weekend the item was shown to be out of stock so I emailed them and they told me it was on backorder and didn't know when they were getting more in. Their customer service was substandard and no apologies or adjustments were offered. This being a Christmas gift I cancelled the order and took my business elsewhere. |

Stupid order change/cancellation policy - no changes or cancellations allowed, can only return the item (you cover the cost of postage)
It took Compusa eight days to ship my order. It will probably take two weeks for it to finally get here. It took customer service just as long (eight days) to respond to my email. Checking order status online is useless as the system is not connected to their fulfillment system thereby providing no up-to-date information. And to top it off, when I emailed asking for a tracking number, I received this response - "It is CompUSA policy that we do not issue tracking numbers for security reasons." Really bad experience. |

I use to buy clear plastic replacement dvd slim cases at CompUSA, but they no longer carry that quality brand, Memorex.
So I bought over $200 worth of electronics, took it home , and found it was defective. Then i was told i had only 21 days to return it for a full refund, tho i was going away on business. "21 days" shows not sign of respect for the brands they do sell nor regard for their customers. I will never ,ever shop at CompUSA. Take the Pledge too !! |

Hassle, hassle, hassle, then...nothing.
I tried to order a hard drive through CompUSA's Web site. Firstly, this is the first vendor I've dealt with who has a policy that I must register a shipping address with my credit card company if it is different than my billing address. CompUSA, check out amazon.com. They don't require that! So, I navigated my credit card company's phone tree and went through the bother of registering my work address with Visa. Then, back to emailing CompUSA. I asked them to re-try the credit card billing. It failed. Why? Who knows. So, I emailed CompUSA asking them to change the shipping address to my home address in order to minimize the hassles. They repied with a terse, "Will do". 12 days later I have not received my "usually ships within 1-2 days" product. Furthermore, the Web site order status said nothing about the status of this order. At this point I sent two emails asking order status. No replies. What a weird, dysfuncational company. What a hassle. All for nothing. |

In-Store status for local stores is WRONG!
by nulmana, July 3, 2006

I am upset after traveling 1/2 hour to a store for an in-store ONLY item, to find that the item is sold out. The Web site incorrectly indicated it was in stock at that store. An employee told me customers had been asking for it, but it had been out of stock for DAYS.
When I arrived at the store I found myself waiting behind another customer who was also upset about this problem happening with a DIFFERENT item: Web site says store has item, but it is out of stock. After blowing an hour in traffic for nothing other than a misleading advertisement, I won't be coming back to CompUSA for a while. The other customer I met at the store felt the same way. Compusa, you need to fix your retail store stock status on Compusa.com. It is simply inaccurate. You also need to do something for customers who were inconvenienced by the misleading information. |

I ordered a 17 inch LCD monitor online from CompUSA. I used a credit card and paid 2-day shipping fees.
Two days later, I got an e-mail saying that my order had been canceled. I tried to purchase a laptop online through www.CompUSA.com. I found that I was able to do a local pickup. When I went to the store it took forever for them get the laptop for me. Apparently, my order had to first be given to one of the salesmen Paul. Rather than answering my questions and explaining the store return policy, Paul hounded me for at least 15 minutes to purchase their warranty/protection plan. It was very uncomfortable and it was a HUGE inconvenience.
After bringing my laptop home I found out that the power supply for the laptop was so big that it wouldn't fit into my laptop bag. So, I tried to return the laptop. Only then was I told that their return policy on "open" notebooks was that they only issue store credit. none of their other laptops really meet my needs. So, now I have a $1,000 store credit at a store I no longer like. If only Paul had clearly explained their store return policy I might have been a happy customer. Instead, I feel like I have been robbed... |

I actually went into the CompUSA store, which was twenty-five minutes away from my house. I was lied to and mislead by the sales associate who sold me my product. The sales person informed me that if I had any problems, I would not have to deal with the manufacturer and that I could just bring my product into the store and they'd give me a new one. Well, I spent over $160 and my printer started malfunctioning less than 1 month after I purchased it. Did CompUSA care? NOT AT ALL. It was passed their 21 days, so I was on my own. I spoke to the store manager, and all he did was yell at me and treat me as if I were some child. He was completely and utterly rude and disrespectful. I literally had to speak to three different customer care reps at CompUSA's home office before someone would help me and all that person did was give me the number to HP and said, "Good Luck!" I am very dissatisfied with how CompUSA treats its customers.

Thus, they were lying when they e-mailed me that the item would be waiting for me. It's a very unprofessional company.

Two days ago, I had to take friends to the West Palm Beach Airport (100 mile round trip). While I was there, I stopped in at the Compusa and bought a $44.00 External Disk Enclosure.
Out of the box, it was bad. The power would not stay on. So, today, I called the WPB store and asked them if I could just mail the product in with my receipt and they can refund me the money thereby saving me a 100 mile round trip and gas money which will cost almost as much as the unit. Compusa response. Nope. Have to bring it in. I will never shop there again. Furthermore, I don't think I will even shop Compusa online again due to this incident. Newegg.com here I come. Bob |
