Another price guarantee ripoff story - I bought a camera for $449.99 and had a GEICO Privileges "coupon" for 10% off. Two weeks later the camera ia $399.99 at Circuit City and you'd think I'd be eligible for $50 back on the price guarantee. The

No problems, but it was somewhat annoying that when I went to the order pick up counter I was told I had to go to another area to pay for the order and then come back and pick it up. I had already filled out the credit card info online. So it seemed redundant to me and I was concerned I would be charged twice for the item - (I was not).

I ordered the product online to be picked up at the store. The clerk went running around the store looking for the product refusing to listen to me when I told him it was just behind him hanging on the wall. He refused to believe that. It should have been pulled and set aside for my arrival just like you state on line. No harm. I still got the product at a great price. Thank you

Why I did not get $24 for their 24 minutes guaranteed
by la_holdem, August 8, 2007

|
Order Number: 4419-1590501, Kensington Si670m bluetooth Wireless Notebook Mouse(72271US).
24 minutes/$24 Gift Cards from Circuit City is balony. I ordered a bluetooth mouse online and 2 hours after order email confirmation I went to CC store to pickup the item. I waited for 10 minutes for their reps to look for my order. Sadly, The item was not in stock. I did not get my mouse nor the $24 that was guaranteed. They said I waited only 10 minutes not 24 minutes. I spoke to 2 online customer sevice representatives and they said the same thing. This is their pickup guarantee advertisement "Your purchase is available for pickup within 24 minutes after you receive an order confirmation email. If it isn't ready, you get a $24 gift card." They need to change 24 minutes to 24 days guarantee. It took me 15 minutes to drive to CC and 15 minutes back home with nothing. What a waste of time. I'm still mad while I'm writing this feedback. |

Circuit City has poor customer service, tricky return policy, bad services and ignorant staff.
by vbarta, August 6, 2007

I will avoid shopping at Circuit City unless there is no other way to get something. I have over and over experienced poor customer service, ignorance, arrogance, and ineptitude from underplayed staff. Their return policy contains a lot of fine print and often includes a 25%-35% restocking fee.
At first I thought they treat people like you know what because I am not from here; I still have a heavy Eastern European accent that scratches some people's ears. But then I realized that is generalized and there is a pattern of poor service in stores across the country. For those of you that disagree with me and did have positive experience while shopping with Circuit City, good luck in the long run; and never let your guard down. Some day you may get slapped too; who knows? |

I frequently shop on-line at Circuit City and pick up the item the same day at their retail store to avoid waiting and also to avoid shipping charge and haven't disappointed so far. Also the good about doing this rather than shopping exclusively on line is you reduce the hazzle of returning items because the store is just right there.

Circuit City Sucks more than words can say!!!

I have made two major purchases at Circuit City in my lifetime. I can tell you that I will NEVER EVER buy anything from this store again. Best buy is definitely better. Their staff is more knowledgeable, they care about their customers (at least more than circuit city), and they don't try to cheat you. Certain policies at circuit city are ludicrous. I guess that's why best buy is better and that's why best buy will destroy this company.

I ordered the DVD/VCR recorder online at Circuit City and then picked it up at a nearby designated C.C. store the following day. Everything went smoothly although there was about a 15-minute wait to actually pickup the Recorder at the store. The store mixes "returns" and "pickups" in the same line, and "returns" appear to be a very slow process.

all these people that have written a bad review must be stupid. i love circuit city. not only do i buy there, but thats the only place i'll buy. yes you cant reliy on a sales person to know everything about a product. thers just to many and new ones come out so often. its up to the customer to read up and be resposible for there ouw purchuses. for the store there great. they have an incredible protection plans. i got the protection plan for my notebook comp/ and they sent me a brand new $200 batery every year. tell me thats not worth it buy it self. so far i've bought two comps, a 46 inch sharp flatscreen tv, router, games and consoles. and never had a problem. never. another plus is there great return policy. they have never given me any crap about retuns.

Be Careful with Circuit City

I purchased a Polaroid 42" HDTV from Circuit City in January after having been told both by a salesman and by their website that it was 1080p capable. About 2 months later I bought my first 1080p device, which does not work with this TV. They told me I could only get 1080p on the component video inputs, so I tried Component Video in addition to the HDMI from a PS3. Neither worked, and when confronted with this, they would not let me exchange it and said 1080p was just "too new". B.S. I wised up and purchased a Sharp Aquos 42" which does 1080p just fine and looks better to boot. Be careful with circuit city.

I tried ordering Acoustic Research AW811 outdoor speakers. The sited indicated it was in stock at some stores, but I selected shipping because the stores weren't close. I got all the way through filling in 4 windows of info and submitted the order, only to have it say, "currently not available at the selected location. Please choose another store or try again later". If they are completely out, they should have had an out of stock posting at the beginning. If it's available at remote stores, why not ship it from there? I'll be shopping elsewhere.

What a terrible Company! They want information that is none of their business. They claim it was for my security, however, my Credit Card Company told me not to give anywhere this information! The charge was approved and they still did not ship the order! I finally canceled it and bought the same merchandise from another vendor. They will never get my business or any business from my friends again!

Customer Service Sorely Lacking on Delivery
by jefft123, June 27, 2007
|

Buyer Beware - Circuit City's Advantage Plan Plus - (Accidental Damage) on laptops require you mail it in a return box. Caveat is any 'cosmetic damage', i.e., cracked plastic from you to outsourced repair facility is not covered unless box is visibly damaged.
Spent over an hour on phone today with a rep that escalated to a supervisor (long hold times) who held the line on this. A $3 part (cracked hinge) wasn't worth the trouble or bad will - should have fixed it to begin with. Now my laptop is enroute returned to me unfixed the second go around and all I'm thinking is what a lousy resolution to a simple problem. Keep up the excellent customer service Circuit City and we'll soon all be reading about your demise. |

NOT HAPPY WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE AT CIRCUIT CITY!!!

Our order was placed on June 12 and received on June 20 DAMAGED. A call was placed to Circuit City and we were told that another would be expedited and that we would receive a phone call within 72 hours with instructions for picking up the damaged item. On 25 June I called to check the status and was told that a new one had NOT been sent and would not be sent until they picked up and RECEIVED the damaged one in their warehouse so they could check it. THEN they would send the replacement and we could expect to receive it in about three more weeks.

Great customer service, Well laid out premise, Spacious aisles, CircuitCity.com complements the brick and mortar store well.
What I love best though is how easy it is to get information about anything and everything related to electronics. My best source of consumer feedback after CNET (Ofcourse!) Con's ------- Prices are not the cheapest always. Many times I get better deals in Web Stores. Though having said that, if the prices are comparable, I would rather shop at CircuitCity rather than a noname store on the web! |

I wanted to buy a download cable for a digital camera I've had for a long time. Although Circuit City did not have the cable I wanted, they were able to offer a reasonably priced alternative (a card reader).
I also wanted to purchase a joystick for gaming. I went to the Seaside, CA store and was not able to get the help I needed (it is frequently difficult to find a salesperson for help at this store, and the customer service desk is frequently crowded because it is also the check-out counter). However, a friend told me about the online order program, where you can get product information, purchase the item and then pick the item up within the hour at the Circuit City store of your choice (if the item is in stock). So that is what I did, and it worked well.

If you buy something from Circuit City with rebate they will give you a hard time. My Attorney is trying to get my rebate for me because they try to say I return the printer i paid for but I didn't. To save money they will do anything to keep it. The person who sold me the printer told me he will take care of it just come in the store but he just hide in the back from me. They will try anything to sale items to you lie, cheat or steal.

Price on shelf not honored. Bait and switch.
Went all the way up the ladder to corporate, no help. Ended up filing complaint with: http://ftc.gov/ftc/contact.shtm Click "complaint form" my complaint: (Product Name: Satellite|ATSC tuner model # DTV H20) Item was displayed in public. There was no price sticker on box, but a price tag was clearly and prominantly displayed the price was 99.99 I took the box to checkout and was informed that i was NOT allowed to buy the item unless i completed an expensive lease and service contract in order to take this item home. This lease and minimum service contract (2 years) amounted to $959.52 (with a possible 99.95 rebate) Isn't this bait and switch? All i wanted was a tuner so i could watch over the air TV |

The old bait and switch is on at Circuit City. First I went to the store after calling to confirm that I could order 3 Benq MP770 from them. Got to the store they couldn't help me so I would have to order them on-line. I was told that my school's PO would be honored! 3 days after faxing the PO we were told that they didn't honor private school POs, ONLY PUBLIC SCHOOLS! They wouldn't even take a check because they were now out of them. They are two faced and can not be trusted because the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing at Circuit City. I would rather take a red hot poker in the eye than deal with this dishonest company! They should read there own policies on their own web site!

I will never buy from Circuit City again
by fugs, May 23, 2007

Buyer beware! Once Circuit City (CC) gets your money you can never get it all back. Bought a computer from Circuitcity.com. The online system would not allow me to actually order the computer. I had to call the 800 number. Several times. Even ordering the computer was too hard. It arrived alright but was defective. This is the second computer of that brand we bought in 3 months that was defective and I decided I didn't want that brand. I called CC and asked about the restock fee for broken items. I was informed that I would not be charged a restock fee because it was broken. WRONG!!! The store kept $350 of mine. Many calls to customer service (very hard to understand - not Americans) got me no where. I will never buy from CC again and suggest everyone strongly think about it! (The first PC we bought that was broken was from Best Buy and they refunded 100% of our money)

Store Service was Bad
by hamon, May 3, 2007

I went to Circuit City in Castleton, IN to buy a HP Pavillion system. I went about 15min. to closing and got lousy service. I would think that the first customer of the day and the last customer would be equally important. Maybe they treat all customers like crap. There were three guys in the computer dept. just standing around and after looking for about 5 min. alone I had to ask for help. I didn't have the right model number, but the salesman didn't even try to ask what specifications I was interested in getting. After calling home to get the model number I was interested in, all but one guy was gone. The guy left was busy. Finally I found someone else, who could not tell me why the on-line price was different than the store price. I will probably buy on-line from CompUSA now.
