I have totally stopped shopping at Circuit City and opt for Best Buy every time. The last incident was the straw that broke the camel's back. Had unbelieveable difficult even locating a clerk in the computer department. He was "busy" with another customer who was looking at laptops. She was not even asking him questions, but he kept interjecting, while I stood patiently by. Could it be because she was an attractive woman? After like 5 minutes of him seeing and utterly ignoring me, despite the fact I obviously had a question to ask him, I gave up. Left the store and vowed that, if this is CC's definition of customer service, they can provide it to someone else. I will never patronize them again.

I ordered the Pentax AF-360 FGZ flash from Circuit City. It's shipping container was in perfect shape from Fed Ex but the Pentax box inside was totally ripped and crushed looking. This was not the fault of Fed Ex. This unit came with free shipping but I upgraded to 2nd day because I needed the flash for the weekend.There was an inspection sticker on the box saying it was only box damage, dated in 2006! The flash inside was totally destroyed. Why a piece of new equipment was shipped in this condition is beyond me. I drove 25 miles one way to my nearest Circuit City store to get my money back....but they refused to refund the $8 shipping fee, telling me to call customer support. I did and after explaining the situation they also refused to refund the shipping. This is the last money I will ever spend at Circuit City, I hope they use that $8 wisely.

Don't buy a car stereo here. If you need to return it the "free" installation is deducted from your refund. Also, they charge absurd amounts of money for their wiring harnesses which are free on crutchfield. Do a little internet research to learn more about their extended warranty programs which are complete rip-offs.

I purchased a new iPod 5G in early spring 2007, and I purchased the extended warranty with it. A few months later, the machine's software went bad, and it had to be replaced, Circuit City's (expensive) Advantage Plan took care of it, and in 2 weeks I had a different iPod. NOT a new one, but a refurb, with a SIGNIFICANTLY shorter battery life. The battery died out about 5 months later, so the iPod could only be played while plugged in to electricity. Circuit City's Advantage program said I should have reacted within 90 days, but it is a paid and expense to repack and send the iPod, and lose it for two weeks (I use it every day! Now I have a Sony that works even better!)
I do not recommend the replacement service: it's expensive, and you get a lower quality refurb. |

Does Circuit City sell used laptops under the new brand?
I was ordered a Sony VAIO Laptop on 01/29/2008 to Circuit city by internet with paying shipment cost. But It never arrived to my home. After 10 days, I had to gone another city and taken it from Fedex. Other hand, my real story was begun at this point. When I opened to box, I was shocked. Because it was including an used laptop like a bad joke but also it was a reality of Circuit city. After this shock I went to nearest store and gave it back, in fact I changed it with another laptop paying exstra 200 $. Because that one was not at stock. Than, I applied to CC a lot of times by emails but nobody returned me for any explanation. Like a Silent Wall ! My question is what would you do if you were me? Online forms for ordering the speakers was not accurate for my car. I had to return purchased speakers at the store, then purchase a completely different set and size of speaker.
Online form didn't tell me about all of the other parts that were needed for installing the car stereo and speakers. Had to purchase another $60 of cables and HW.
Did not get the discount for the second set of speakers needed.
In the store, many of the store reps didn't seem to know what they were doing... I ended up going in the back and talking to the installation guy, who was very knowledgable about what was required.

Very bad experience. I chose the store pick up but my items were not available when I came to the store although the site indicated that they should be. The customer service at the store and on the phone was very bad. It seems that it happens pretty often. I will not buy there again.

Circuit City needs to work out a better way to pick up on line orders instead of having customers wait in the same line as others needing customer service. They should have a special pick up line for on line purchases only. The person helping me with my order was so disorganized. He started my order, then went to another cashier and started helping someone else. I was just left standing there until one of the service reps from another register finally came over to complete my pick up order.

I ordered an item thinking it was going FED EX. It went Fed Ex Smart Post and the USPS lost it- but said they could not issue a refund b/c the mail carrier claims he didnt know what happened to it. I called and Circuit City said they'd issue a refund in 72 business hours. I called after that and they said it was thier busy season and it will take up to 14 business days. After waiting I called again and they said that it takes 14 business days to hand the case over to the investigator to see that it was never deliverd (and that investigation can take weeks).
So now I have to wait- i purchased it in November started the refund process mid-December and have to wait until mid- January for some one to look into it. I even had the post office agree to write a letter to Circuit City stating they searched the post office and can not locate the package! It's insane. Had they shipped FED EX and hand delivered it- I would not have a problem. CIRCUIT CITY SUCKS! |

Circuit City does not honor rebates and the service on their phones is really bad, if you can get anyone to answer. Most of the time it is a recording and calls are hung up on. The people who do answer, if you are lucky, are in another country and have a script they follow and are of little help, if any. I noticed that Best Buy made higher than expected profits while Circuit City lost more than expected. CompUSA is going out of business and I would expect Circuit City to do the same in the near future.

This store has sold me an OUT OF STOCK ITEM twice! The day I received my order canceled email. I immediatly got on the phone and was told the item was in stock and reordered it again then I received another out of stock claim. This hassle was totally uncalled for, they shouldn't be selling out of stock items such as the (Sony DVPNS57P/B Progressive-Scan DVD Player). I'll never shop online with this store again.

I ordered online for pickup at the store, but when I went to pick up the item, the store was out! Their inventory showed they had one, but in reality they didn't. I was obviously disappointed that I made a 20 mile wasted trip and had to then wait for the item to come in the mail more than a week later. Otherwise, the online mechanism for purchasing was great, and their customer service rep at the store was helpful and gave me a $24 gift card for the inconvenience. That helped ease the pain but I would rather have had my purchase!

CircuitCity.com was not able to process a simple order for a digital picture frame that I wanted to send (because shipping was free) to my sister as a Christmas gift. Would not accept ANY credit card because the shipping address and billing address were different. The site reported that the bank would not allow the transaction. But I called all the credit card banks and was told that was not the case. They said that no transaction had been attempted and if it had, it would have been approved (as long as the shipping and billing addresses could be entered independently and were not forced to a single entry -- which was the case with CircuitCity.com). Result: I bought a digital frame from another merchant, billed it to my credit card, and had it shipped to my sister in another city. I spent 2 hours trying to order from CircuitCity.com including about 20 min on the phone with a customer service rep that wasn't able to order it for me either.
