What a HORRIBLE Company

Wow they stink. They happily took our order and charged our credit card and then did nothing for five months. They didn't even return our calls or emails!
We then canceled our order. Again they did nothing. After another month of unreturned messages and emails, we filed a fraud claim with Visa, who immediately refunded our money. We hope you don't repeat our mistake. |

One good thing: great prices. That does no good if they don't have anything in stock though. And you won't find out they don't have your order in stock unless you email them at least 5 times and call them. They don't call you back and don't reply to emails. You'll never see your order and if you do cancel it, you'll never see your refund. They're a bunch of thieves and I don't understand how they can get away with this and stay in business.

Good prices, but in-stock status questionable

I too had the exact same experience with backordering. I think they could easily correct this by updating their inventory online. They must not have the software to do this.
I've ordered from them in the past and the order came incredibly quickly! Why? It was in stock. My recent order from January 07 still isn't in yet, even though it did not mention any backorder status on their site for what I ordered. They charged my Visa and said it would ship in 10 days. After many emails back and forth which I had to initiate, I finally find out it is backordered and now I'm supposed to get it by the end of March. They offer good prices, but they should get a better inventory management system tied to their online order site. |

Placed a very expensive order on the 5th of December. Received an e-mail saying I should receive it within 10 to 12 days. Christmas passes. No package. Sent an e-mail asking for tracking information. No e-mail, no package. On the 3rd of January, I called the company. The customer service rep said she'd call me back. She never did. Called again today. My order was never shipped. When I asked why I was given a shipping date, she said it is an estimate. When I replied that 10 days and a month weren't even close, she said "It's not a month. You ordered them December 5th." Today is January 4th. I still have no package.
Update- January 16: My package arrived today. It is complete and very well packed (important for fine china). After we complained about the delivery delay, Caplan Duvall agreed to waive the $60 in shipping we had paid for delivery. |

This seems like a relatively common Caplan-Duval experience:
1. Place an order 2. Charged for order 3. Encounter a problem 4. Company stops replying to emails 5. Never see your order And is what happened to me. In addition, I can't even get someone on the phone. AVOID. THIS. COMPANY. |

In April I ordered two pieces of Portmieron Holly and Ivy from this company. At the time I was told that one piece had to ship from England to them, and then they would forward the entire order to me. I never received the order so I contacted the company again in July, and was reassured that their delivery from England should be received shortly. Having never received by order by November I contacted the company AGAIN, Cathy Mays ASSURED me she would look into the matter and resolve it. Having not heard a follow up, I have written three additional times. My last three emails have not been replied to. I gave this company substantial time to fill the order since they were obtaining the product from overseas, which has left me in snafu with my credit card company, whose policy is that charges should be disputed within 60 days. This mess is largely my fault for not sitting on Caplan Duval until my order was filled. However, shame on Caplan Duval for taking customers' money and leaving orders unfulfilled. I'm out $182.11!!!
