I recently decided it was time for a new casual jacket. My Columbia fleece was getting old and one of the tightening strings had collapsed on me. I had gotten a good four years of use out of my jacket, and I was prepared to bite the bullet and try for something new. I had heard a lot about The North Face Denali for Men, and how despite its light and casual look it was actually very warm and comfortable. I did some research online and at my local Macy's, and I saw that the jacket sold for $165.00 retail, which I thought to be a bit bizarre. As much as I know The North Face is a "brand name" and very popular, I felt that the price being asked was too high for the quality that I was receiving.
I decided to use Google's Shopping feature, which allows users to type in the name of a product, and then you can find results for the product with prices and the names of the vendors easily accessible. There is also a direct link to the vendor's shopping page. Luckily, after typing in "North Face Denali for Men", I received several pages of results, and I was lucky to find many results with prices below $165. There were several results from eBay as well as some other auction sites, but I was especially interested in the $129.98 result from Campmor.com - a rather popular website which sells outdoor attire and necessities.
When clicking on the link, I was brought to Campmor's page for The North Face Denali for Men. The website offered a color picture of the jacket, as well as the ability to change the color of the jacket (and a corresponding picture which changed colors), though not all colors were available for sale at the time I placed my order. I could also choose to see the image up close, but there was no feature which allowed me to zoom in and drag around the image, which would have been nice. There also was no picture of the back of the jacket, which I found to be poor. Nonetheless, the rest of the page gave some detailed information about the sizes, as well as the jacket's dimensions and features. I could also choose to see other men's fleece, North Face, or casual jackets that are offered at Campmor. However, since I was positive that this was the jacket that I wanted, I continued with my purchase.
After adding the jacket to my cart, I proceeded to the checkout. I was offered the ability to sign up for Campmor's VIP customer club, but I declined and continued to shop as a "guest." The website made it easy to fill out all the appropriate contact, billing, and shipping information. I used my Visa debit card to complete the purchase, and it was charged the correct amount. The $7.99 charge for standard shipping (the cheapest available) seemed fair; the next best option was $19.99 for 48-hour delivery, which I thought to be exorbitant.
After placing my order, I immediately received a confirmation e-mail - one which stated my order and gave me an e-mail address to use in case there were any problems. Surprisingly, the e-mail did not provide me with an 800 number to call. In addition to this information, the e-mail said that 99% of all orders ship on the next business day and should be received in six business days. Surprisingly, though I placed my order in the wee hours of a Saturday morning, I received my North Face jacket on Tuesday afternoon - just two business days after placing my order. Not only was I impressed with the very quick delivery, but also with the secure packaging and the fact that my order was carried out correctly.
Since receiving my jacket, I have decided to explore with the Campmor website some more in order to see if there is anything else I would like to order. The store offers so much in the way of camping, hiking, and for the enjoyment of nature. There is a large selection of tents, sleeping gear, lanterns and lights, compasses, backpacks, cooking devices, etc. I found prices to be very fair and the selection to be more than sufficient. This is certainly a website that any nature enthusiast should check out simply because of its astonishing selection of products. On that note, visitors should make sure to be wearing their reading glasses; the text is very small and there are many categories to choose from, so you may become overwhelmed. However, the website does not appear to be "high tech" and does not have overblown graphics or colors.
Overall, I would be glad to recommend Campmor to others. I was very lucky to find a The North Face jacket for a price lower than retail, and I was even luckier to receive my order way ahead of the scheduled delivery date. I never had the need to e-mail Campmor with questions or complaints; everything was handled in a satisfying manner. I only wish that the website had more features in the way of explaining and displaying products. Nonetheless, if it's going to save me a few bucks, I'm not going to complain.
