I like Chef's Catalog and how much they stand behind every product they sell. They have an unconditional warranty on everything and if I am not happy with something I've purchased at any time, I can return it. That is true customer service.

One product was not as described and did not work for the type of mandoline that I purchased. Chef's was excellent in taking care of that for me. I sent it back without any hassle and they won't charge me a restocking fee. I would recommend Chef's to anyone and anytime. Phenomenal customer service!!!
Also, when you call for questions they will try to help you and never once was I on hold for hardly any time. super quick and personal phone service as well.

the candy (peppermint sticks) arrived broken and couldn't be used as xmas gifts (i was credited, but still didn't have the little gifts i'd planned); the oven mitts are sized for shaq and aren't flexible therefore, aren't useful (i'd have returned them, but it would have cost more for the return shipping and the re-stocking fee...ridiculous

This is without a doubt the worst internet store we ever had to deal with. Despite having order confirmations and having paid extra for expedited delivery, the 3 gift orders were not delivered as promised. They then promised free overnight delivery, but it didn't happen--the shipping people had gone home early. Another customer service agent promised yet again for delivery in two days--it didn't happen. Despite promises that the items were in stock, they were not received as promised. We were then told the items were on back order. Order cancelled after 3 weeks of lies and unfulfilled promises.

Ordered baking chocolate and it arrived melted inside the box. I called their 1800 number and I was given a total refund. The customer service person was very nice and helpful. I will still purchase from their store but it has to be non food items.

I placed an order for a 9 piece LeCreuset cook set on December 2nd. Twice I received the 7 piece set. I was charged $299.00 three times before finally receiving the right cookware on December 17 and getting properly credited for the overcharges.
I spent way too much time packing cookware to and from the UPS store. GAS ? About $25.00 worth. Time spent covering their repeated mistakes ? Priceless. I will think twice about doing business with them further. p.s. In the end EVERYTHING worked out. No attempt to make things good for my troubles...i.e. a small credit or future discount. came away with a bad taste about this one considering the $$$$ spent. |

After reading several negative reviews of "Chefs" or "Chefs' Catalog" on this website, I decided to check this business out on the website of the Better Business Bureau. Surprisingly, I found that several different outfits do business as "Chefs" or "Chefs' Catalog." The BBB website lists them and differentiates them by location. The Chefs' Catalog in Colorado Springs is well rated. Since they had a very good sale on an item I needed, I took a chance and ordered from them. My entire experience was positive. No complaints! And they have a wonderful array of high quality products from which to choose. The reputation of a good business should not suffer because other companies with the same or similar names are providing poor service. When reading or writing reviews, we should try to discriminate among the various companies doing business. Adding the location of a business helps to do this.

Ordered a food processor on the Monday prior to Thanksgiving for next day delivery. Item was listed in stock. Did not arrive by Wednesday. Called to check and was told there was a "computer glitch" and that the item was still sitting in the wearhouse. Ruined thanksgiving meal planning, but did receive a credit for the amount charged for next day shipping. Item will not ship until Friday now, and probably won't arrive until Monday - A WEEK LATER. Thanks Chef's catalog (for nothing).

It was a bit tough to find the right size but I found it - good experience and easy ordering today.
I was impressed by the selection and the ease of ordering. I will be back around Christmas time because I found many ideas for my mother who loves the Kitchen! Everything arrived fine without trouble. |

They are a great company to deal with!!!
Placed an order for Christmas delivery and it was back ordered but they said they would try. Even said if it was not there I would get a refund. It arrived a week before Christmas. There was supposed to be an extra piece as a bonus. It was discontinued and when I emailed they gave me a discount on the order to make up for not receiving the bonus. They have been great and I would highly recommend them Pam |
