On- line stores offer many new experiences for the shopper in terms of prices, product availability, and product information. I have used many different web sites but I am always ready to try out a new one. My most recent encounter is with I site I had never heard about until a short time ago. The site is
BuymeBuyme.com, an on- line store for buying office products, electronics, and other things.
What Does This Site Offer?:
BuymeBuyme.com offers products for sale such as:
Office Equipment- Fax machines, copiers, printers, toner
Phones- Cell phones, cordless phones, answering machines, cell phone accessories, etc.
Cameras- Digital and 35 mm
Electronic Goods- A wide assortment of goods like garage door openers, door bells, inflatable beds, pool cues, digital organizers, etc.
Computers- Modems, web cameras, monitors, scanners, PDAs
Payment Methods/Shipping:
Buymebuyme.com accepts Mastercard, Visa, American Express, and Discover credit cards and it also accepts Paypal for payment. Shipping options (in order of cost, from lowest to highest) include standard ground, UPS third day, USPS priority mail, UPS second day; and UPS next day. Shipping costs are based on weight so they can be very expensive if your item includes lots of extra poundage. At the very least- even if your item is small in size and weight- you can expect to pay at least $9.90 in shipping charges. These shipping charges are uniform for all 48 contiguous states.
Customer Service:
Customer service is available by phone at 877-972-8963 or by e-mailing a question to sales@cs.buymebuyme.com. If on- line ordering isnt your style, you can order by phone at 877-992-8963.
Final Thoughts:
BuymeBuyme.com is an on- line retailer that specializes in office products, electronics, and other goods. It is a company based out of West Palm Beach Florida and it often has some decent bargain deals on these and other merchandise products.
Many internet shoppers are familiar with Buy.com and there is also a service called buyme.net. Buyme.com is another domain that is already owned by someone else. So, the people at this web site decided to go with the not- so- original BuymeBuyme.com for the name of their on- line store. The name is on the lame side but this is nothing compared to the many weaknesses of this site.
Right from the start, BuymeBuyme.com fails to impress. The web site is very unattractive and it has too many blank areas on the main page and large ads on the bottom of the main page. When a category is selected, there are no additional images that appear on the screen to catch your attention. All you get is another listing, this time of subcategories. Only when you select a subcategory do you get to see something with visual appeal. Assuming the product category isnt empty, you should see some images appear on the screen.
BuymeBuyme.com has wide variations in product availability. If youre looking for a cordless phone, you will find about 60 choices. Select laser printers, and you will have only six items to choose from. There are some good name brands represented like Canon, Epson, AT&T, etc. but most categories are very limited. When you get a list of products to choose from, there is a chance that some of them will even be empty. Whats worse is the fact that some categories fool the customer into thinking there are going to be more products listed when there actually are not. When a product is selected, it is common to see numbered tabs and a next key to look at more choices. This is pretty standard for an on- line store. But the problem is that the numbered tabs are often empty! A customer could pull up a product that has six numbered tabs only to find that just two of them have products displayed for sale. This is bad- the management at BuymeBuyme.com needs to update the site and get rid of all of these blank tabs. It is very misleading to customers. And the mix of products is, well, weird. How many other web sites offer cell phones, inflatable beds, and pool cues for sale in the same store? I dont know who thought of this, but it is unusual to say the least.
Another bad thing about BuymeBuyme.com is that it doesnt offer any way to sort the results- not even by price. Of course, there are generally so few items to choose from that sorting doesnt matter. But there should still be
some way to sort the merchandise to your choosing. It would satisfy customers and it would improve the likelihood of BuymeBuyme.com making a sale.
Yet another weakness with this site is its lack of internal customer support. The Sales Policy section has a few questions and answers to sales related issues. But there is no FAQ section or any other way to quickly find an answer on- line. Customers will have to call or e-mail with a specific question. Creating a list of commonly asked questions would be simple enough and BuymeBuyme.com needs to get to work on this right away.
So, thus far it sounds like BuymeBuyme.com is a complete waste of time and a horrendous on- line service. But there are, believe it or not, a few good points to make about this web site. The first one relates to the purchasing process. Customers will have to establish an on- line account but this is quick and painless. And since the site is so relatively empty, the pages load rapidly making the process very fast. Then, there is the shipping. The base shipping charges are a little high, but there is no sales tax so if you plan to spend a large sum of money, the lack of sales tax could make BuymeBuyme.com an attractive place to make a purchase. They also deliver quickly- in less time than the promised time frame of six to eight business days for ground shipping.
Speaking of pricing, the costs for the merchandise in this site are varied with a few being overpriced and most underpriced. BuymeBuyme.com has a special clearance section that is updated continuously as items are placed on sale and there is even a scratch and dent section (its usually empty, so dont hold your breath). These clearance priced items are often very attractive and as long as they are part of a larger order, they can translate into a good amount of cost savings. If they are not part of a larger order, the savings will be cancelled out by the shipping so I wouldnt even bother buying here if this is the case.
BuymeBuyme.com has many flaws. As a web site, the design and functionality are awful and the management needs to make some serious improvements. But for pricing, ease of ordering, and quickness in shipping, BuymeBuyme.com is a good service. Add it all up and the site is still below average due to the poor product availability and other factors. But its worth a look every now and then just to check the clearance section for some basement- level shopping opportunities.
