I shopped for the first time at a physical Brooks Brothers store while visiting the northern burbs of Chicago. My husband tends towards safe colors like white and blue. I had purchased him a Paul Federick's watermelon dress shirt and he looked sharp in the pink. The problem we are having with his other 2 Paul Federick's shirts is that they wrinkle too easily and a nightmare to steam or iron. So I bought him a BB dress shirt in pink. After this experience, I decided to shop online for his birthday. We do not need one more dress shirt that is going to mean long ironing sessions.
I went online to BrooksBrothers.com. Honestly, they do a great job of presenting their elegance and high end retail presentation in their website. They use a royal blue background with gold lettering and their symbol. I went immediately to their clearance. Yes, we can afford the regular price but why would I pay it? I was specifically looking for another dress shirt. There were 4 pages of dress shirts at 50% off. It was nice to find their $118 shirts, now $59.
Let me clarify by saying that many of the dress shirts I saw online are amazingly clear and exact to the shirts I saw in the store. What you see is exactly what you will get. There is clearly no misrepresentation.
I found the shirt that I wanted to get my husband at the brick and mortar store but they didn't have his size. I found it on the website. I looked at other shirts to purchase for him online but they just seem to carry 14-17. My husband is 5'10" with broad shoulders so he wears between a 17 1/2 and 18 35-36 sleeve. This is the problem I ran into at the brick and mortar store except I was given looks at the store for him being a tall man.
I searched the web and wanted to find a discount code. I found a $10 off $50 if I register first and log in when I purchase. Once you register, they send you the $10 code.
I immediately went to Fatwallet where I saw they offer 3% back for purchases from Brooks Brothers. I went through the link and signed in. I went back through the clearance link and found the shirt. I put it in my basket, checked my email, copied the code, put it in the code box and wa la, $10 off. I checked out quickly as the process is very painless and selected shipping to another location.
I am currently staying in a hotel as we are traveling so I had it sent to the hotel with the room number. I then finished check out. Since I was in the middle of checkout, I did not wish to have to start the process over so I opened another browser and Googled their shipping policy. On their website, it states that standard delivery was 3-5 days at no premium charge yet they charged $9 for shipping and handling. I call that premium.
There was some trouble with the shipping as they ha a hard time to believe it should be shipped to a hotel. Once the staff confirmed my identity, the process went smoothly and I receive my merchandise in a timely matter.
Brooks Brothers backs up their merchandise with a life time warranty.
The website has womens items but much like the brick and mortar store, it is too masculine. My mother in law and I thought the womens shirts were mens. I kid you not.
