My order was scheduled to arrive by today, December 23rd. FedEx says it was placed on the truck this morning, but by 6 p.m. it still hadn't arrived. The office is closed tomorrow, this was going to be a Christmas present, and I'm extraordinary disappointed. I even saw two different FedEx couriers make deliveries to our floors, but no packages for me. When I called FedEx to complain, hardly yelling or swearing, their rep "Linda" hung up on me!

So the problem is actually with FedEx, but Blue Nile will never get my business again until they offer alternate shipping options. I'd have gotten it sooner had they sent it regular first-class, certified mail! I work at a Fortune 50 firm that annually earns $75 billion in revenue, and there's a reason we choose Airborne as our standard shipper, not FedEx.

To Blue Nile's credit, the phone rep. was extremely courteous, and he shared my disgust with FedEx's performance. He said to just refuse the FedEx package, whenever it arrives. When they receive it back, my bank card will be credited.

My (now) husband bought my engagement ring through Blue Nile. We purchased the bands together one month later. 18k White Gold 2.5 mm bands. We began wearing them in March 2004 and by May they were yellow. It is now October and my band looks like yellow gold. I took it to a prestigious local jeweler who informed me that the maker of the bands and the engagement ring are different and that replating it would only bandaid the real wound. It would be like painting a rusty car. I have called Blue Nile and they feed us a line of crap about how they can't help us.
Them gemologist at the jewelery store also looked at my stone and couldn't believe that it was the same diamond that went with the GIA Grading Report.
My husband feels horrible about the whole fiasco and wishes he would have gone to the local jeweler so that we would have a face to talk to.
Blue Nile does not stand behind their merchandise and we found out the hard way why. Their merchandise is of poor quality and their customer service is non-existant.

I returned a $32,000 engagement ring to Blue Nile. [2.01 F IF Ideal.] They could not handle a resize of the ring in the 30 day period.

According to the service agent at Blue Nile the problems that they are experiencing are due to the shipping department being separate from the where are orders are being taken.

My follow on was to buy from the 47st diamond district in NY. For $1000 less I was able to buy a diamond that was equal to or better in every category. [2.01, E, IF Ultra Ideal].
I got a tour of the diamond cutting factory on the 27th floor and chose my diamond there.

The 47st store has also had problems with resizing. They mounted on a 6 prong when we requested a 4 prong and they mounted the prongs over the engraved #.

It seems that you get what you pay for.

After doing a lot of research on the internet, I decided to purchase a diamond solitaire engagement ring from Blue Nile. They provide all the education you need (4c's) to choose your ring. I was most impressed by the ease of filtering and sorting through all the diamonds to narrow your search. Most diamonds even had a photocopy of the GIA cert for viewing online!

After I chose my diamond, I looked at other online stores to see what I could get for the same price as Blue Nile. Turns out that Blue Nile's prices were typically lower by about $50-$100 for similar carats and quality.

The ring was shipped on schedule. You were able to track the Fedex delivery on Blue Nile's site.

I was very satisfied and comfortable ordering jewelery from Blue Nile. It was so easy and informative, that I didn't even need to speak to anyone there.
