Ease of ordering with an easy to use website.

I don't really use Barnes and Noble online because I prefer going to their stores in person. But when I did shop online, it was a breeze. I was able to find what I was looking for within minutes. I bought two books from them a few months apart and they both came in excellent condition. One was hardcover and one was a paperback and priced at $ 30 and 7.99 respectivly. I got 10% off on both which was pretty neat. The books came on time. In fact, I got the order the next day via UPS which isn't supposed to be because Barnes and Nobles states that standered shipping is 3-4 days.
The ease of ordering was good. Everything is there for you once you log on. Just click on the apporpriate buttons and withn five minutes, your order should be placed. And, if your lucky, some items are available for in store pickup. |

What I love about B&N is their used books feature> I have found several rare and out of print books with ease as you basically are searching all over the country for that special book or novel> Better than Amazon in that respect. Amazon is great for selection and service as well.

A place one could shop for hours looking at books. A place to find bargain a galore. You can find books you cannot find anywhere else.
I love going around Barnes and Noble when in Springfield, Mo. I also try to get gift certificates to spend there. Everyone there is so friendly and helpful. I would like to see them serve coffee for browsers like Hastings used to. It would add to the experience. |

I love Barnes and Noble. I live in a rural city, and it is very difficult to find anything to read that is not 100 percent main stream. I can find anything I want on Barnes and Noble. I've ordered several things, and I have never had a problem. I usually get my shipment pretty quickly. I've never had to deal with Customer Service, so I don't know how that it is.

Order messed up and no results from Customer Service!
by azarski, June 14, 2005

There processes don;t work and customer service just copies information from the PC without looking into problems.
The books weren't scheduled to ship for 2 months even though they were in stock and listed as ready to ship in 24 hours. It took 3 contacts to get this resolved. I used a gift card to pay for all but $3.41. My credit card was charged for the entire amount instead of just $3.41. When I saw this was the case prior to shipping I contacted customer service twice and both time I was told "Please note that when both a gift card and credit card are used to pay for an order, the gift card is debited as the first form of payment and any remaining balance is then charged to the credit card." Yet this didn't happen. I have contacted customer service again and got the same answer. I have a membership at Barnes and Noble. I plan on canceling it and either using Amazon or Borders! |

Great book store. I have managed to find every book I have been looking for at their site. The prices online are even better then in their stores. They also have online classes that you can take for free. This is a great idea. It keeps people coming back to their site to see what is new. And did I mention it was free. Shipping is even free when you buy a certain amount.

Ships in 2-3 days? More like 13 days to NEVER
by sarahford29, March 29, 2005

On March 19 I ordered a book that bn.com said usually ships in 2-3 days. Six days later, on March 25, I got an email saying it wasn't going to be shipped for another 1-3 business days, which would make it March 30 at the latest. That was the most recent email I received. I then looked at my order online, and it says it is scheduled to ship April 1st, which would make it 13 days instead of the 2-3 that they advertised. I asked them to at least be honest about the availability of that particular book, but it STILL says on the product page that it ships in 2-3 days. My emails to them have been answered with form letters not addressing my questions. In my last email to them, I said that they lost me as a customer. In their reply, they said that they are looking forward to my next visit. Idiots.

I ordered a few books from BN.com. They are a great site especially if you live or work in Manhattan.
First off, they offer free shipping over $30. Since most hardcover books are an average of $24.99 in the stores, you don't have to buy unwanted things to hit your mark of $30. I bought a book with a cover price of $17.99, and added a paperback new release for $14.99 to reach my free shipping price. The reason I mention Manhattan is because they offer same day delivery in Manhattan for most of their inventory. This is a great thing. To be able to order something either the night before, or before 11am and have it in your hands the same day is awesome. Not that I am lazy, but in this world of everything being at our fingertips, this is just another added convenience. |

Preview ANY CD before you buy it!
by ladyluck713, February 14, 2005

What I really like about Barnes & Noble is their selection of music and the fact that you can preview ANY CD before buying. They have stations setup where you can just scan the barcode and you get half the play time of all the songs to preview. This really cuts down buying all those CDs that there's only really one song on that you like. The customer service is always good. Again the music selection is great. The prices, well it's true you can find better prices other places. Those other places, however, don't allow you to preview ANY album, usually they only have the best sellers or the current top 10 to preview. That in itself will keep me coming back.

Forget buying online

It's faster and probably less frustrating to walk in a real store than to order from them online. I ordered the box set for Lemony Snickets, The Trouble Begins on 12-30-04. Stated it usually ships in 24 hrs and then when checking account later said it would ship on 1-17-04. This has been the same experience with their so called "free shipping" everytime. It's obvious they give these customers last priority even though they spend the $$$ to take advantage of free shipping offers.
My advice, buy from another seller or walk in a store and make your purchase. Save yourself the frustration. Update: 1/17/04 and still not shipped. This is positively the worst service I have experienced online from ANY seller. |

I purchased numerous items from Barnes & Noble Online for Christmas, and was extremely pleased with the service I received. My items were shipped lightning quick, and everything in my numerous orders was correct. The site was easy to navigate and order from, and I did have a question, which was answered quickly in their FAQ forum. Overall, a pleasant experience that far surpassed vying for a space in the mall parking lots.

I buy a lot of books on line and for consistent availability and service, this site is hard to beat. The orders come when promised and in good condition.
I do get tired of receiving multiple emails from them about their specials, but it must work for them or they would stop doing it. Their prices aren't the cheapest out their but they do make up for it with reliability. And you can get deals of clearance items and sometime new releases. I've never had a problem with an order so it's hard for me to judge how good they are at problem resolution. |

Could not be happier - unbelievably fast delivery

I could not be happier with my experience ordering from Barnes & Noble.com. I ordered a lot of books for the holiday. Once, I ordered a book on Saturday and it was at my door on Monday and I chose standard shipping! The price was good, the speed was unbelievable and I got exactly what I ordered. One item needed to be returned because my son received 2 of the same item for Christmas, I was able to return it to the store for store credit but I did not have to ship it back.

The worse, items not shipped. No gifts to give!
by auntpolly04, December 15, 2004

|
The worse! I placed an order for 11 items on Dec. 3. One item was a pre sale and after I placed the order I realized they were not going to send my entire order until Dec. 14. So I canceled the pre sale item. I contacted customer service via email and was told my order would be shipped shortly. Two days later I wrote again and was told my order would be expedited. Dec. 14, the day everything was to be sent to begin with, still no shipment! Contacted by phone and was told not only was my order not going to be shipped on time, but one item is no longer available. The customer service rep. refused to let me talk to a supervisor but after an hour on the phone she told me all my items were located and they would be shipped out that evening. Dec. 15 and still no shipment scheduled. Finally contacted a supervisor who is trying to get my items shipped, but order status now says Dec. 28 for shipment. Worse experience ever. Avoid at all cost. They lie through their teeth. Will be hearing from BBB! .

I am so impressed with Barnes & Noble's online store. I ordered a game from them on Friday the 10th after 6:00 p.m. and I received the game on the Wednesday the 15th. I was sure that I wouldn't get it in time for Christmas and especially since the shipping was free. Thanks to
Barnes & Noble for helping me with my last minute shopping. By the way, they also had the best price on this game. |

I love shopping at Barnes and Noble. Overall customer service and satisfaction is great. While order accuracy is also very good, speed of delivery can be improved.
It usually takes up to 2+ weeks for my school textbooks to arrive. I like to call the store and have them order it for in-store pick up. Some Barnes and Noble stores have great sale annex areas that are better to peruse in person than online. |

The availability of what I was looking for was very good and the shipping time was faster than I expected. I was pleased with the variety they offered.
The shipping cost however was not correct and much higher than the actual cost. They charge you quoting a media rate but charge double the amount of the actual shipping cost. I would look elsewhere and resort to Barnes and Noble last when possible. |

Registration is a hassle. Payment info difficult.

Excellent selection, but registration is quite a hassle. My grandfather attempted to purchase something from BN.com. I did my very best to assist him in the registration. Here is what happened to us:
My grandpa's email address and password had been valid for years, and the company registration page kept rejecting the VALID information. There must have been a glitch in the page, as we finally get through to the payment step of our purchase. The experience wasn't over yet. The company initially did not accept our credit card number or address code. Both have been correct for years! After we finally got through that, they asked for our security code, which we thought for sure was valid on the back of the credit card. It turned out that the company AGAIN rejected the information, stating, "Security code invalid or expired." Ridiculous! Other companies, such as Ebay, have accepted the code! This was the last straw and we both gave up. Unless you are 100% positive that your info is 200% correct, do not buy here. The good side to Barnes & Noble is that their selection is good and you can review items quite easily. |

This book was a good overview of applying to dental school but missed many of the intricate details of successfully applying. As a pre-dental counsellor at UCLA, I can say that much of the information in this book can be found on the internet. For a more comprehensive guide, try the ultimate dental school guide by aly kanani at pre-dental.com As a more experienced predental advisor, his book is much more useful.
