I love books. I realize that the library has books you can borrow for free, but I love to have books that I can keep. However, I also consider books from a bookstore a luxury right now (as books at the library are free).

I was very pleasantly surprised to receive a $50 gift card for Barnes and Noble. Well the only thing I like better than shopping for books is shopping for books online (in my jammies). The cool thing about Barnes and Noble is that they have more than just books. They have dvds and if you’ve read any of my other reviews, I am trying to transfer all my videos over to dvds (and I swear to heaven if they change formats again, I’ll shoot someone.)

One of my favorite comedians is Ron White -of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, etc. I found that B & N had 4 or 5 of his stand up routines on dvd. I ended up getting 3 of his dvds and a cd (but for the life of me can’t remember which one).

One of the best things I thought was that I was able to get free shipping on some of the items and for a grand total of about $11, I got 3 dvds and a cd.

One thing that I thought was odd was that one of the dvds was unrated. But that’s not the odd part. Ok, a little background. I have most of my orders delivered to my office address - as UPS has a standing order not to leave anything on my home doorstep as it tends to “disappear”.

So I decided, naturally, to have this order delivered to my office. When I tried to “tell” the website to send the order to my business, it came up with a message that because I had ordered an “unrated” item, it could not be sent to a business address! So I just had it sent to my home address and when they left the note saying they tried to deliver a package, I had it redelivered to my office address.

I mentioned this to the UPS driver who is at our office everyday on business, and he said he never heard of such a thing. (I guess some company’s didn’t like the idea of their employees getting “adult” material delivered to the office.) Of course it could be a bit of Homeland Security mixed in there too.

So I really like B & N, especially the shipping deal I got. The delivery time was very accurate and everything I ordered was in stock and came in one box.
