I lost my beloved Oakley Minute Sunglasses recently and tried to replace them only to find that they apparently have been discontinued! The nerve of Oakley! A frenzied search brought up a pair at Backcountry Outlet.com. I wasn't sure what to expect but I took a chance and bought the sunglasses.

All is well. The sunglasses are sitting near me waiting to be worn outside. I had no issues with this site other than the shipping being somewhat slow.

What the Site Sells

This site is the outlet division of Backcountry.com. It sells deeply discounted sports and outdoor apparel and accessories/gear for men, women, and kids. Many items are discontinued styles or discontinued colors. You can get a great deal if you find what you're looking for. I got my Oakleys for $70.00 shipped. I paid more than twice as much for them last year.

Navigation, Shipping, and Returns

Navigation is straightforward. You can shop by brand, by sport, by percentage off, and several other criteria. You can also do a keyword search. The site is jam packed with items of all kinds but stays simple as far as far as photos go. You generally get one view and can enlarge that to see detail. I love the descriptions. They aren't stock manufacturer ones. Backcountry Outlet.com writes them and they're funny as well as informative. There are real consumer reviews under each item - just short ones with star ratings. They are helpful if you're not sure about buying a certain item but don't need to read a full review.

Adding to your cart and checking out is simple. The whole process of paying only takes a minute or two. You will receive a confirmation letter and a shipping one with tracking info. I have not been spammed at all by the site. In fact, I have gotten no emails from them since I got my shipping and tracking email.

Shipping is free for all orders over $50.00 in the US. Below that amount, it is dependent on price. They do ship internationally and have a shipping chart for those outside of the US to see exactly what they will be paying for their purchases. Most orders are shipped the same day or next day, according to the site.

Returns are very easy. Everything is eligible for returns or exchanges and there is no restocking fee. You can send items back with or without a RMA but a RMA makes your refund or exchange go faster. There are no exceptions to their return policy. I really love that policy!

My Experience

I knew what I wanted, just not where to get them. Through a search, I landed at Backcountry Outlet.com. There were my Oakley Minutes for a good price and no shipping or tax. Loved it. I looked around a bit then made my order. It took me just a few minutes to complete and receive my confirmation email. I received a shipping email a few hours later.

I was disappointed, though, that I had to wait nine days for my order to arrive. I was assuming that, since they ship so quickly, I would receive my order quickly. Nine days isn't terrible but it seemed like an eternity because I rely on my Oakley Minute sunglasses whenever I step outside.

My order finally arrived, packed securely inside an Oakley box and then another bigger, durable one. Everything was as it was supposed to be and I now have my Oakleys at a price I am very pleased with.

I will continue to shop at BackcountryOutlet.com for sporting, exercise, and outdoor items whenever I have a need. The savings are great and they have a huge variety of items for all outdoor and sporting activities.

Conclusion

My transaction was smooth from start to finish. The nine days I had to wait for my order was no surprise. My shipping email said the order would arrive on the day it did by UPS. It came exactly on time. But still, I wish the order had come faster. Otherwise, shopping at Backcountry Outlet was a really good experience. I like the huge variety of items and the deep discounts. I also love their return policy and free shipping over $50.00 policy.

I am going with 4 stars. I would go with 4.5 if I could. My only niggle is that, since the glasses were shipped on the day I ordered them, I had hoped they would be here in a matter of a few days, not nine. Still, it's a really minor issue compared to the savings and satisfaction I got from the site. Highly recommended!
