THE WORST ON-LINE RETAIL EXPERIENCE EVER

I placed a large on-line order for X-mas on December 5th, and everything I ordered was shown as in-stock. I realized on December 18 that I still hadn't received an e-mail from Back in the Saddle, and checking their customer account info on line, found the record of my order and saw that all but one item I ordered was in stock, and scheduled to be shipped.

I immediately followed with a phone call to customer service, where I was told that all but the back-ordered item would be shipped in time for Christmas. On December 22, still no sign of anything and no e-mail news (two e-mails I had sent to customer service were bounced back without being delivered), so I called again. It was then, 3 days before Christmas, that I was told that "there was a shortage of people to work in the warehouse" and they were still processing orders from 12/3, and had 12,000 orders they were trying to get shipped. When I explained that I had been told on 12/18 that my items would be shipped in time for X-mas, the reply was "I don't know who told you that, but we can't begin to get to your order, and it won't be shipped in time." (I note that there were a number of seasonal items ordered, such as X-mas ornaments.)

I then replied that even if there was a shortage of warehouse workers, that was no excuse for not contacting the customer and telling them in a timely fashion that the order was delayed. The manager had no response to that except to say "I'm sorry; it's not a good way to do business."

This company has really hurt my kids' holiday, as I have no alternative at this late date to replace the goods that are still sitting in the warehouse after almost 3 weeks. Moreover, they don't care; no effort whatsoever was made to do anything to make up for the problem they created by their inadequate staffing ("we just couldn't hire enough people to work in the warehouse"--COULD IT BE THAT YOU AREN'T PAYING ENOUGH TO YOUR WORKERS??????) and their even more inexcusable failure to communicate to their not so valued customers.

NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH BACK IN THE SADDLE UNLESS YOU ARE A MASOCHIST!!!!!!
