Horrible Online Experience that Continued for 4 MONTHS!

I have been shopping at American Eagle for a long time, they offer pants in long sizes and shirts that fit well. Sometimes their store doesn't have all of the sizes or selection as their online store does, and I'll go there to order.

The website itself is easy to shop on, I like how there isn't too much to choose from so shopping is fairly quick and easy. The shipping has always been slow because they use the US postal service and I feel their rates are too high.

A recent experience I had with American Eagle prompted me to write a review. It was awful, more than awful and I will explain in detail my experiences.

In Christmas of 2006 I was given a 100 dollar gift card to go shopping. I made my purchases and the grand total came out to be 105 dollars, so I put my bank account information in to cover the extra 5 dollars. I placed the order and 2 days later I got an email saying my original order caused an error in their system and they were replacing it with a new order with all the same stuff in it. Well the new order charged my bank account all of the money and caused us to overdraft!!! My gift card still had the 100 dollar balance, and to top it off we never received the shipment because the system put an old address in there I used to have and didn't use the address I had entered the original time.

WOW, so I called customer service at night because that is when I get out of work.. I am not exaggerating with you, that I had to call them 20 + times over the course of 4 MONTHS to get this corrected. It was awful, stressful and unbelievable that this had happened the way it did.

What had happened was that they ended up charging my gift card but never crediting back my bank account so I was double charged and I never received an order. Just now in April of 07 I finally got the credit on my bank account and finally got a gift card in the mail for the original 100 dollars. I kept escalating my issue to managers and they promised to call me back but never did, until we called in the morning one day and actually got someone who made things work. The service was hideous and I just can't believe that it took that long to get a resolution on their own mistake

I had to share my story somewhere, and decided to here. Just use with caution, and if you have a gift card, don't go over that amount whatever you do!
