Could not be more pleased with this shopping experience. I ordered a pair of Teva watersports shoes on 1/5/09. I was happy because I wear an 8 1/2, which is hard to find, and they actually came in an 8 1/2 and were in stock, so I ordered quickly! I received an email that day to confirm my order; the next day another email came to tell me that my order had been processed by Teva and shipped; the email included UPS tracking info, which was very helpful. My order was shipped on 1/7 and I received it on 1/12. FIVE DAYS! The shoes are top quality, they fit great, the color is just what I wanted and the cost? They are $100 sandals, and I got them for $29.90 + 8.95 shipping = $38.85, and since it took less than a week to get them, it was well worth the wait. I will definitely order from amazon.com again. If my future shopping experiences are like my first one, I will be very happy.

I used to use Amazon frequently for books. Never had a complaint, until I discovered that they sell at least one book on raising fighting dogs. I think that is innappropriate, so I no longer buy from Amazon anymore.

Having read some of these negative reviews, I feel obligated to put in a good word for Amazon. I order everything from OTC meds, to dog pads, food, cookware, housewares, books, music and gift certificates from Amazon. I have a been a steady customer since its inception. Ordering is super easy and the site is very easy to to use. Their prices are low and the super saver shipping option and no tax make it even more of a bargain. The packaging is excellent and shipping is ridiculously fast. There are extensive records onsite of everything I have purchased and product reviews are very helpful. I have never had any problems whatsoever with ordering, delivery or returns. Amazon saves me time, money and gas. I recommend the site unequivocally.

I was shopping for an Onkyo TX-SR606 receiver for Christmas. It was clearly marked as in-stock by Amazon, but when the order was put in and several days passed, I got a notice from Crutchfield saying the product is out of stock that they need to reorder and it will be 30 days before they know when the product will be in store. Outrageously unprofessional! I will never shop at Amazon and Crutchfield again!
In addtion to the stocking status problem, the model number was also mixed up. TX-SR606 is silver colored; and TX-SR606B is in black. Amazon is now publicizing the silver one will be delivered through 6ave, and if you go check the web site of 6ave, it is clearly that the price is for the black one, not the silver one. Another evidence of incompetence. |

I had never had a bad experience with amazon until I needed a book within a week for a class since I couldn't find the rare book anywhere else. The site said "order within the next 4 hours to receive this book by...). I followed these suggestions AND had it overnighted, but the book came a WEEK later, meaning I spent all the money to overnight it to have it come much later than I needed it. It came too late, so I couldn't even complete the assignment!

We've been Amazon customers for years and have never had a problem. In fact, they are 5 star compared with anyone else we've used via the net. There have been very few problems and those were handled promptly. Amazon staff has been professional and friendly. The speed of delivery is amazing. If there's a problem with the quality of the product, even those coming from off-site, they take care of the issue immediately. We also appreciate their policy of contacting us if they have a problem filling our order on time. We're more than pleased with this company.

Amazon customer service is a misnomer. SERVICE??? Fugeduboudit! They manipulate prices--an item will jump $70 in minutes. Their so-called "service" is from some hapless soul in India that has no idea about anything you are trying to buy & no power to resolve your issues. I just ordered an HDTV. They estimated delivery for Thurs 11/6 and I received the shipment 3 days earlier. There was a minor communication issue with shipper but Amazon was able to resolve the problem quickly and resulted in the early delivery. The shipper Pilot Freight Service also exceded my expectations with great service.

Shopping for a Samsung LN52a650 on amazon I was attracted by 24 month interest free financing.
Applied and approved immediately, no credit limit was provided and no account number was emailed. Purchased the TV for @2200 using the new amazon.com (GEMONEY) account. One hour later received email to review payment method. After speaking with amazon cust svc., received 866-634-8379 number for my GEMONEY account. I told her I didn't know what my limit was, just that there seemed to be a problem with the payment method. She told me my limit was $1800 so I wasn't eligible for the interest free financing. I asked if I could try to increase my limit $400 to purchase the TV? The agent encouraged me to log in to my GEMONEY account to increase my credit limit. Unfortunately my account number was required to log in and would not be provided for 3 days, when the interest free financing was no longer available! Cancelled my $2200 order, cancelled my GEMONEY amazon.com account. What a circus. |

Amazon.com is very difficult to reach when there's a problem. You can email, but they're not very communicative. They can be EXTREMELY slow to ship as well.
Recently I put in an order and the portion coming from amazon did not even leave their warehouse for a full 4 days. (The portion coming from an independent store came before the amazon items even shipped.) When I saw how long it was taking and that it had not even shipped, I looked into cancelling the order, but wasn't able to. They said the order was in "process". Bad, bad customer service. I purchased the items locally and will pay to return to amazon rather than give them the business. In the future I will use the independent store names on amazon to order directly from the store or merchant. They're not paying amazon commission that way and the service is much better. |

Hellish call centres based in the Philippines where no-one understands English. My conversations with their representative were so tortuous I nearly lost my head. Even when the language barrier was surmounted after repeatedly asking the same question, I discovered the information was wrong. They told me a Customer service number was toll-free when it was chargeable; they also told me the Call Me facility would call me back when, in fact, they refused to make calls outside the US.

I bought an eliptical around May and have yet to receive the actual product by the end of June because Amazon claims to be out of stock. Funny thing is, they're still selling the EXACT product online. Amazon's explanation is that because the product was on sale by Amazon, Amazon has to get the product in stock to give me the sale price. The issue here is that they're no longer keeping the product in stock and instead lets a third party merchant fulfill the order. So why can't they fulfill my order through a third party seller? Well, since the sale price listed by Amazon is $100 lower than the third party merchant's, Amazon says that the product must come from Amazon and not a third party seller. Huh. Couldn't they have told me that a month ago?

Amazon is like a candy store to me. I've never had a problem, except I've noticed that if I start ordering online at work, and finish at home, sometimes I get duplicates. So I just order from home now.
In selling books, CDs and DVDs, Amazon.com performs beautifully. I've been shopping there since 1999 (at least). They started out great and they've just gotten better (I do miss the free Post-It notes, though!). Together with Apple, it's on my very short list of implicitly-trusted sites. I don't currently use the MP3 downloading service; my DLs didn't download, but that is probably my fault. It wasn't a big deal in terms of money, so I haven't addressed it yet. But when I do I'm sure they'll get it working for me. To sum: I have bought hundreds of items from Amazon.com between 1999 and 2008, and never had anything less than a good, hassle-free experience. I returned something only once, and it was a breeze. They know what they're doing, and they do it excellently. |

I've been buying and selling on Amazon for about two years now. I haven't had a problem with them or any of their sellers. I did have a customer who bought the wrong book from me and tried to blame me for her mistake. Amazon contacted me about the issue and I explained my side and she explained her side. They said that if they felt I was in the wrong they would refund her money but that never happened. But what if she did make it sound like I made the mistake? I would've given her a free book? and I would have to eat the shipping cost too.

Amazon almost always has the best price and I used to be a loyal customer. Recently though, with the introduction of Amazon Prime, the standard and free shipping is horribly slow. Amazon took a full week to move last 2 orders out the door. From now on, I'll shop somewhere else and spend a little more to get faster shipping.
