I have only good things to say about Adorama. This year, I've made three purchases from them, totaling about $6,000 of camera equipment. The experience has been 100% positive. Their prices are typically the lowest on the net -- if not, they'll match any online competitorsprice.
I placed orders both by phone and online. The salesperson I dealt with was Sy. Adorama allows you to specify a salesperson when you order online. I like this, as it means I'm establishing a business relationship with a real person, not just with a computer.
Sy was patient and extremely knowledgeable. This was important to me, as I was just getting into the world of digital SLRs. I had done a lot of research, but his advice here and there was invaluable. In one instance he suggested I purchase a lens warranty, which I'd intended to do but had overlooked. It was just a friendly reminder, and I never felt pressured to buy anything I didnt ask for.
Follow-up communication was good. In all three cases, I received an email within 24 hours of purchase that included a pdf of the order. Shipping was prompt and all items arrived just as expected, with the exception of one filter whose plastic retail case was scuffed. The filter was fine, so I didnt complain, but Im confident they would have replaced it if I had asked them to. When I needed to return a $280 lens, there was no hassle at all.
I will do business with Adorama again and I regularly recommend them to any friends who are making purchases.
