Return Policy is Misleading - Won't take product back

I thought I knew what product I wanted (Whirlpool range hood) and found Abe's had the best price. Easy ordering process. They never mentioned that they had to order it themselves from the Whirlpool warehouse and then forward it to me. That took longer than expected.
When the product arrived, it was not what I wanted. I went online (Saturday) to read the return policy and it looked like I was covered so I went out locally and bought something else and installed it. When I called Monday to get my RMA they said this 30"x17"x6" product is a "LARGE APPLIANCE" and therefore not returnable. They suggested I simply take it back to Lowe's and claim I lost my receipt. To me that is even worse than their own refusal to take it back. |

Customer Service is not comfortable to ship an item to you when you don't have 2 lan line.
The absolute worse customer service ever. They are rude and yell at you and tell you that you are at fault even when you already spoke to them at great lengths. They need 2 Lan line telephone numbers or they will not ship the item to you because they are not able to confirm who you are. Who has 2 lan lines? I spoke to Tony, who claims to be the CEO of the company and he literally said "Your cell phone # is crap to us." The sad part is... this is my 2nd order with them so my record should already be on file. I can understand that they are trying to be safe and not ship items someone that they feel has stolen a credit card. However they are on the phone with me. They spoke to me 3 times and calls my cell phone crap. The fact that they are speaking to me 3 times doesn't mean anything? Not to mention, the 1st time it went to my voice mail that has my name on. |

I brought a sigma 70-200mm lens from them, it took 4 days before they shipped. Actually I have to call in and went through bunch of sales pitch like, do you need a filter? need warranty?..
Anyway, I found the copy of my sigma lens got a focus issue, so I wrote down the serial number and sent back to them for an exchange. 3 days after they receive my lens, they sent me "another" lens. It was the same lens. same serial number. What a dishonest practice. I am returning it to them. period. I will never buy anything from those guys. Tony from California. P.s. I was very skeptical at first about purchasing electronics from this site. My husband finally convinced me that this was a good company and man was it ever! The customer service was outstanding! Instead of dealing with many hundreds of people on the phone, my order was assigned to one person. Sheldon helped me and re iterated my order over the phone making sure every thing was correct. I was very happy overall with not only the prices, but the customer service I received and will definitely be shopping with Abes of Maine again. Thanks again

So I have to admit feeling a little iffy after reading the poor reviews, but they have a physical store and the best price at the time, and some good reviews, so I took the plunge and placed an online order.
They do call you back to so-call "confirm" your order and shipping and billing info. They also try to sell a bunch of extras. The prices of their extras aren't bad either, but sometimes they should just realize that if you wanted extras, you would have included them in the order. Anyhoo, I told "Morris" that I was upgrading from an older model, which I was, so that killed off the hard sell. They had free shipping and I waited anxiously for the UPS ground delivery to arrive to make sure I didn't get a grey market/refurb/open box. I didn't. I got a new camera, the one I wanted, for a great price. So yeah, this review is only for a camera sale, and they did do the call-back to sell extras, but all in all, everything came out well in the end and I'd buy from them again so long as you don't mind the call-back. |

Abes of Maine had the best deal I could find on the Canon Rebel EOS GII. It came in about 19 days which was a bit slow and I had a long wait when I called the service number to verify shipment. I think this was because it was so close to Christmas though and I was happy when I received the camera with good packaging and as described. I will definately do business with them again!

This was my first order and likely the last. The order was completely on line but never received any email confirmation. After 3 days I called them and waited 30 minutes on hold for customer service, and then was forwarded to a salesperson that started out with something about typing in a wrong email address which was why I never received a confirmation. Sounds like a ploy to call in to me since it was typed in properly on the website order. Sure enough, after "correcting" the email address, I then received a fairly hard sell to buy accessories for the camera, the usual extra battery, uv protector lens and extended warranty. The sad part was they were not even the lowest price around, but seemed to have good ratings. The name is deceiving too, Abe's of Maine is in New Jersey, a state far more famous for this kind of shoddy salesmanship.

I tried to purchase a camera on this web site and after 5 days my order had not been still processed.
I tried to call three times and waited up to 20 minutes just listening on the phone to nice songs, but was not able to speak with someone. Ok, it was Xmas time, so you can expect a little bit of delay, but you also can expect shops get prepared for the event perhaps working more hours or hiring more people. Eventually I sent an email and got an answer in a couple of days in which they said my order could not be processed because I am in international customer and my billing address was abroad. Good to know, just I would have preferred to discover this upon my purchasing ...you know, something like that nice pop up windows saying" Oops you can't buy with us because we do not accept international credit card". |

After paying extra for expedited shipping, I still did not receive it in a timely manner. Customer service is non-existent. Using their phone tree, I clicked through to "customer service" and received a message with their business hours. My call was placed DURING those business hours. The line then went dead. I received an e-mail from a salesperson who wanted me to upgrade my order. I responded several times indicating that I wanted my order to be sent out immediately with NO additional items. I never heard back. I called that salesperson's extension and left two messages. Never heard back. I finally called and left a message on his VM to cancel the order. I'm sure this is not the end of it. I'll have to refuse delivery, appeal the charge on my credit card, etc., etc. Do not do business with this retailer!

I just have a nice experience wit ABES of MAINE ( Located in Edison, New Jersey). I bought on line a SONY High Definition camcorder and the next day I received a courteous phone call from a salesman named Phil. He wants to confirm my purchase and advise me for additional items for the camcorder. I add a UV protector. - Thereafter, I called the costumer Service asking for the USPS tracking number. Exactly two days later... What a Lighting delivery! The mail man was at my door with a fresh and sealed box from SONY!! - Thank you so much Phil, ( extension 219 ) I will recommend your store to every friend and neighbor. I am so satisfied!

TERRIBLE! Do not buy from this company! We ordered an LCD from them, and within one day, they were calling me to get me to "upgrade" my shipping and wall-mount, trying to get me to add hundreds of dollars to my order. The saleman was aggressive and rude. They also charged my account for the price immediately, but failed to deliver on the television. After almost three weeks, they contacted us again to say that they were not able to get us the television at the advertised price, and that they would have to charge us more. Three weeks...they had our money, and we still did not have a TV. I demanded a refund, but it took another week before the money was refunded. I was about one day away from contacting the BBB. Stay away from this company!
