I have been with Cingular for over 5 years now. I began with two phones and a Family Talk plan. I now have over 10,000 roll-over minutes. My grown-up niece added her line to my plan and still we are collecting roll-over minutes. This is probably because of the free mobile-to-mobile feature. My most recent addition to my plan has been to add the Push-to-talk feature and two fireflys; one for my brother and one for my son. They love them and I love the control they give me. All of this is under one plan. As the primary account holder my line costs $59.99 a month (plus taxes, fees and features). Each additional line costs $9.99 a month. PTT costs $20 a month and includes all lines in the plan.
I have renewed my contract or "Upgraded" my phone twice now. I know this terminology bothers some, but I think it is rather nice to be offered the same deal as a new subscriber even though I am an existing customer. I would expect those who do not already use Cingular to be offered better deals and incentives than those of us who currently subscribe. Whatever it takes to get them hooked, you know. Cingular is no respecter of customers, though. New customer or previous customer, you still get the same deal.
I have had to contact customer service a few times in the past 5 years. Each time I have spoken directly to a person with little or no waiting. The person has always been helpful and solved my problem or transferred me to someone who could solve it. When I have ordered anything online it has always been shipped second day air, and I got it right away. Not a problem. I guess I've been lucky.
Cingular have the best coverage of any carrier in my area; which includes Sprint, Altell, Suncom, etc. I don't see myself switching carriers for any reason.
Well, I hope this helped anyone who is wondering if Cingular is all bad. I don't think so, but a lot probably depends on where you live.
