In August, I purchased a stove from AJ Madison, which, after several months of use, suddenly broke due to a defect in the electrical system. I called the stove company, as it was still under warranty and they referred me to the original point of purchase, AJ Madison. Dealing with AJ Madison has been painful, at best. The stove broke in November 2008 and now, after numerous phone calls and emails, in February 2009, I have received my replacement stove. Three months, all through the holidays, and I have been without a stove. Now, because AJ Madison and the stove manufacturer (Electrolux) have been in disagreement regarding installation of the new stove and removal of the old stove, I have two stoves sitting in my house, neither of which I can use.
Initially, I felt that AJ Madison did an ok job with the delivery of the first stove in August 2008. The delivery time was a bit excessive -- several weeks to get a stove from New York to Vermont, but the price justified it. Now, my opinion has completely changed. Customer service has been atrocious and the delivery time (over two months!) was completely unreasonable. It seems that AJ Madison has good prices, and as long as you can avoid dealing with customer service, it's fine. Unfortunately, you never know when you'll need customer service. Overall, after my experience with this company, I would have been happy to pay a little more money for a more favorably reviewed seller. I suggest avoiding AJ Madison if possible.
