AJ Madison is very competitively priced and sells all the major brands. However, their customer service, as noted by other reviewers, certainly leaves something to be desired.
I ordered a range and a range hood from AJ Madison on 1/6. I wanted to use $700 worth of American Express Gift Checks that I received over the holidays to make this purchase. I spoke to Jacob, the sales person, and he said they would accept the checks. Since I ordered the merchandize over the phone I sent him the checks via Fedex and they arrived the next morning.
These checks should be handled like cash (since they were already paid for, they are like travelers checks) but AJ Madison decided they were going to treat them like personal checks and kept my order on hold. I called them almost daily since they essentially had $700 in cash in their hands and I had nothing to show for it (not even an order confirmation). They told me that they were waiting for the checks to clear. I told them that I had checked with Amex and they had cleared on 1/8. They kept insisting they had not and that they could not release the order because I might cancel the checks. I told them that was not possible for me to do. I even got them on the phone with the American Express people who confirmed to them that the checks were legitimate, that they had cleared on 1/8, had been made payable to them and that it is not possible for me to cancel them. But AJ Madison told me that changed nothing because they were following their own rules.
Every time I asked for someone to call me back it was ignored. Every time I spoke to someone they were rude and clearly annoyed at my persistence.
They were going to release the order on Friday, then Monday, then Tuesday, then Wednesday. After another reminder from me on Wednesday the order was finally released and delivery was scheduled (by me). The delivery took place right on time (7 AM on Friday) and the range is beautiful.
Overall, customer service could use to place a bit more emphasis on the "service" part.
