Good Prices, Fast Shipping, Nice Selection – AC Lens Online Store

Sometimes wearing contact lenses really sucks. You have to clean them, deal with allergies, calcium deposits and replacement lenses. Sadly, without them I am literally as blind as a bat so unless I want to wear glasses everywhere, I continue to shop around for sites that offer me the best price on lenses, fast shipping and don’t rake me over the coals on shipping fees. Someone told me to check out 1-2-3 Lens but it seems like they are out of business. Searching on Google I came across AC Lens when I was looking for Acuvue 2 lenses and they had a very competitive price - $16.95 for a box of six. One thing that really irked me about the site when I first got there is that it automatically defaults to ׀” when you select and item and add it to your shopping cart. Since I wear the same prescription in both eyes it isn’t a big deal for me, but if someone isn’t paying attention they are going to get zapped when they get their order and see that they have two boxes instead of one.

Selection

AC Lens offers you brand names like Bausch & Lomb, Sunsoft, Johnson & Johnson, Ciba, Boston and OSI. They don’t just sell contact lenses; they also carry a nice assortment of accessories like contact lens cases, reading glasses [non-prescription ones], lens cleaners and sunglasses. Most of what they carry has to do with contact lenses but it is nice to know that they also carry other things in case you need to stock up on them. The site is easy to navigate and most of the items listed come with some type of a description. This is a no frills type of site so the pages load quickly and ordering things is pretty much a goof proof type deal. There are some things that you will want to read over before you place an order – things like your privacy and when your private information will be disclosed to others.

You will need to provide the name of your eye care doctor when you place the order; I have no idea of knowing whether they call the doctor to verify the date of your prescription or not but I’d have to say that they don’t since they just ask for the name, not the phone number. Some sites ask for a lot of information when placing an order for contact lenses, others don’t ask anything. By law contact lenses aren’t allowed to be dispensed without a valid prescription [in some states they are good for one year, in others two years] so be wary of sites that have incredibly low prices and don’t ask for any information about your last eye exam or if you have a valid prescription – you might just be getting scammed or get outdated lenses.

Shipping

All of my orders from AC Lens have arrived via the United State Post Office. The base shipping fee for ground delivery via the USPS is $5.95 and if you want it there quicker you can pay extra for the expedited shipping via Federal Express. They do offer Overnight and Second Day Air but you will have to pay the difference on these options. Most of my orders arrived in three or four days after I placed them – at the most seven business days. That’s not too bad in my opinion and they certainly don’t spank you on the shipping fees like some sites. They do offer overseas shipping but you will have to call them or check the site to get the prices for that. Military / APO people will have to wait a little longer to get their items but they don’t chage more for shipping.

Payment Options

The site accepts “the big four” – MasterCard, Visa, American Express and The Discover Card. If you want to pay with a money order or check you will have to call their toll free customer service line and ask about it because it isn’t listed at the site whether or not they accept these types of alternate payments. I used my debit MasterCard for my purchases and didn’t have any problem getting it approved, processing it or being charged an amount that was different from what was listed in my online checkout and in email confirmations. The last time I placed an order it didn’t ask for my CCV [credit card verification number] but this may be something that they are going to implement in the future.

Return Policy

Since I know that there is always a risk that you are going to get a defective lens, this is something that I read about before I order lenses from any site. AC Lens does give you a 30 day time frame to make a return on lenses that are not open [not just the lens carrier but the box they came in] as well as any that are defective. So far I haven’t had any trouble with the lenses that I have ordered from them but it is nice to know that they are willing to accept returns on unopened boxes as well as those that may be damaged or unusable due to a defect. If they are defective they will ship them to the manufacturer and then you will get a replacement from them – nine times out of ten this is due to the edges sticking together when they are packaged or the liquid leaking out. If you do have a problem give them a call, explain the situation and find out exactly how you should ship them back to them.

The Bottom Line

So far I haven’t had any problems with the website, ordering or getting my order in about a week. Since they are in Ohio my orders usually get to me three to four days after I place them but if there is a problem with them being out of stock they are really good with emailing me to let me know this. They will ask you if you want to still place the order or cancel it – something that is almost unheard of with cyber commerce. The prices are fair, the selection is good and there are no pop up or spam. With so many different contact lens sites coming and going it’s nice to know that this site isn’t a scam or fly by night operation. No doubt, when I need replacement lenses and I want them fast, this is the site I’ll turn to.

As always, thanks for the read!
