Terrible customer service, would not take responsibility for mistakes. I emailed them to confirm that they received a comment about my prescription. They emailed back (a week after I placed the order) and said "Oh yeah, if you want your glasses that will be $20 more" AFTER they had already made them and charged me. Customer service was rude and said that they screwed up but so what, pay or else cancel. Meanwhile I've lost a lot of time and still need glasses.

I placed an order at 39 dollar glasses nearly two months ago.
They charged my Visa card but I never received the glasses. After several e-mails i asked my order to be cancelled. They said they would credit my card but after two weeks I still have not received credit. My next action is to send in a fraud report to the BBB and NY AG office. rg omena, mi |

I had a poor experience with this company. The glasses were taking a very long time to arrive, and the website said that the order had gone to the lab. This went on for days, so I contacted customer service. The first person I spoke to said that she would make sure that they would go to the lab that day. Didn't happen. 2 days later, I spoke with someone else who promised that the glasses were lost and would be remade. I was also told that they would expedite shipping. The glasses were made, but were shipped standard. This whole experience took way too much effort on my part due to the poor customer service. The quality of the product was fine, but the service was poor. If I had known that it would take over 3 weeks to get the glasses, I wouldn've ordered...I will know better than to order from them again.

Beware of 39dollarglasses.com! I odered glasses which came quickly but gave me headaches. I sent them back and was told they had failed inspection. One would think the company would do quality inspection before they ship but evidently not. I was told new glasses would be rushed through and I'd have them within a week. After two weeks, I called and was told the frames were back ordered and they offered to send glasses in other frames and the correct frames would arrive in two weeks. It's been three and I'm still waitng. Was just told it ill be at lest another week and I'll have to pay a local eyecare facility to change lenses. If you order from 39dollarglasses.com - good luck!

I ordered three pairs of glasses in the past few years. While there were minor mixups, they were resolved, and I"m quite happy with the glasses. However, my last order has gone seriously awry. Ordered glasses in mid-March 2009. Delivery promised by March 24. It's now May 17.
No reponses to my e-mails; can't get anyone on the phone; and while I have managed to chat with a customer services rep twice now, both told me things that didn't pan out. (One said that they would be delivered the following week, which they weren't; the other said she would respond by e-mail and didn't.) I would love to get the glasses, but I guess it's time to dispute the charge - though as it's been more than 60 days, I may not have this option anymore. Wish me luck. |

I ordered glasses and they said it takes 4-6 days to ship for this kind of glasses. they charged my credit card instantly. After 13 days they still didn't ship the glasses. I called them during the business hours and the automated answering system made me wait 25 minutes on the phone and nobody answered. I checked the online help, nobody was there. After half an hour I found someone at the online help and they kept me waiting for an hour. I am still waiting for my glasses.
Update!!! It has been 46 days and I still havent received my glasses. They said that it was lost in the mail so they will send it again. When I told them I want a refund, they told me that they can only give the 70% of my money back.I called the customer service phone more than 10 times and couldn't find anyone to talk to. After a couple of tries I managed to get hold of someone online and she wasn't polite. |

I ordered a pair of progressive lens bifocals from 39dollarglasses.com on 3/15/09. They immediately charged my credit card, and sent me an e-mail saying they expected to ship in 2-4 business days. Ten days later, I checked the web site, which showed that the glasses were "in final inspection", where they remain ever since. Calling this company results in one of two things: either you get put on hold for 20 minutes and then get a message "Sorry, we can't take your call now, call back later", or, if you do get someone on the line, they tell you "I have to check with the lab, I'll call you back" and of course, there's never a call back. Same thing on the "online chat" support. There's always an excuse: "That department doesn't come in until (9, 10, or some other time later than what it is now)" and always an "I'll send you an e-mail", which they don't. I am trying, now, to have them cancel my order, and I've contacted my credit card company to dispute the charge, since I NEVER RECEIVED ANYTHING WHATSOEVER. Stay away from these guys, they are a complete rip-off.

I purchased single vision glasses from 39 Dollar Glasses Online for $85 which included postage. They came with Next Generation Transition lens which provide UV protection and anti-scratch surfaces. These were a great value compared to the glasses I purchased for $159 with regular lens, UV protection and NO ANTI-SCRATCH protection at a well-known discount chain store with "everyday low prices". The only caution I have is to ensure your prescription information is correct as well as the Pupilary Distance. 39 Dollar Glasses customer service is excellent and, if needed will walk you through the process and ensure they are receiving the correct prescription information.

I ordered glasses from 39 Dollar Glasses Online. They were twice the cost of a similar pair from Zenni Optical. I ordered from this company because I was told they had a one week turn around, and I needed my glasses quickly. After over 2 weeks of lies, 4 telephone calls and numerous e mails, I finally got my glasses.
The quality of these glasses are sub par. The glass frames are made cheaply. The frames were crooked when I recieved them. I am afraid to bend them back, because I am sure they will break. They charge some ungodly amount for anti glare, so I passed on that. There were no springs on the sides of the glasses. I wrote a letter to the Pres of the company, and no one ever bothered to respond. This was an all around terrible experience, I will never order from them again, You need to think twice about ordering from this company. |

The glasses were delivered within a week of ordering (was on vacation so not sure of the exact # of days), the prescription is exact, and the frame sturdy and attractive. Additionally, the glasses came with a nice case and drawstring bag for storage. I would definitely buy again from this company.

Placed a $152.80 order for new lenses on 18 June and sent in a new $300 frame purchased at a local optometrist. They received the frame and money OK - but now after six weeks I have only frustration.
Emails are seldom responded to and only with meaningless babble, the "order tracking system" sits on status "in production" four (4) weeks. Eventually on 11 July it claims to have shiped via U.S.P.S.; when checking USPS says it can not confirm to have received a shipment. They actually posted on 16 July... 29 July: The glasses arrive! Frame is slightly bent on one side, one screw over-turned, transition effect responds to sunlight with glacier speed and the anti-glare must be the North-Korean version. I won't send it back. Don't want to have anything to do with those people anymore. Thought with a locally purchased quality frame I get the best of two worlds. Only wish I read the reports here before placing my order! If you want to throw money away, please do so near an orphanage. At least needy kids may get it, but do not feed those sharks. |

Don't deal with these people. They are not reputable. I sent my titanium frame expensive sunglasses to them because I had a scratch on one lens. Replacement of a lens should take an hour at any optical center. Three weeks later NO GLASSES and just double speak from my repeated calls to their customer service rep. First I was told they were sent, then a week later told "These things take time". Still no glasses. No response on when I'll get them either.
Do yourself a favor and learn from my experience. Go to your local optician. |

Original order clearly asked for a light indoor tint, received the 2 weeks later (no communication until about one day before I received them, website account page not updated) with the darkest outdoor tint. They were also poorly fitted and required some serious alteration. They were sent back with a request the tint be lightened. Received call for clarification and I responded by email. One week passed,no communication so I called and was told email never received and nothing was being done with glasses. Issue apparently resolved and after a week am still waiting for the glasses (I'm in the northeast US.) Major issues: almost impossible to reach by phone,email communication very slow (I received a few dated responses after 7 business days)and other emails allegedly not received. Website account page pretty useless as far as tracking order, it's not updated until after the fact. All in all a very poor experience and I would never recommend them or order from them again. I originally heard about them through the WSJ article which now makes that article highly suspect in my eyes.

Although my order was delivered within reasonable time the temples (arms) of the glasses are about 3/4" short for my head.
When I sent 39 dollar glasses an e mail about this I was told that for slightly less than half of what the glasses originally cost they will correct the problem. The net result is that for about 120% of what similar glasses would have cost from my local optician I may get a pair of glasses that I can use. |

It's cheap, I got my product in a timely manner, and never had a service problem, but the quality is poor. The "anti-reflective coating" has peeled off of my polycarbonate lenses after only a year and a half -- usually my glasses last at least two years. In short, the $39.95 glasses are worth what you pay for them, but do not buy one of the more expensive packages, the quality does not justify the price.

NO CUSTOMER SATISFACTION GUARANTEE! I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED - Ordered and received 2 pairs of glasses. Needed one pair for computer and another for close reading. The computer glasses were the expensive titanium frames - they are so thin that they look like they are twisted on my face! The reading glasses are extremely small for my face. When I called about a refund, it was pointed out to me that they have a 100% QUALITY GUARANTEE --- it is NOT a 100% Customer Satisfaction Guarantee. So buyer beware. With my local optometrist, if I don't like the glasses, they send them back and get me a new pair - no charge. With $39dollarglasses.com, you have to pay them for the privilege of remaking your glasses. So once again my mother is right; she says "you get what you pay for." I paid plenty $189 for titanium frames with high index Seiko lenses for the computer lenses and $127 for reading glasses. Though this is more than $39, cheap is cheap.

My young adult son got a 'free' pair of glasses when he bought his contacts...and watching his dollars he took the most basic (read 'ugly') frames. Since they were only for back-up and occasional wear they were 'okay'. Then he had a problem and needed to leave his contacts out for several days and was forced to wear the glasses. They are so unflattering that I began looking for something inexpensive that might be a little more presentable. We found 39 dollar glasses and gave them a try. They were just fine and promptly sent. The frames were sturdy with 'spring' bows and they were nice looking. For an extra pair of glasses this is a perfect place to look. (I even ordered a backup pair of progressive lens multifocals for myself and they are just fine. A little more than the standard $39 dollar glasses but still a bargain!)

WORST experience and customer service I have ever experienced. Everyone is given the same excuse when your order is not completed...a scratch has been found in the lenses and we are remaking them....They do not answer emails and don't expect instant messaging because the link goes nowhere & is just a decoy for perspective shoppers. Whether you call at 10AM or 5PM you will be told the production dept. is "out to lunch, we will give you a callback" (but they never do). Meanwhile they have your $139.00. (yes, that's what they end up costing). Do yourself a favor & go elsewhere.

I was satisfied with 39 Dollar Glasses. The thing that made me want to order from this store - after doing A LOT of research on other discount online eyeglasses stores - is the fact that they are located in the US (New York) and they are featured on the Better Business Bureau's Online division (bbbonline.com). My glasses were approx. $80 for a pair of semi-rimless eyeglasses w/ anti-reflective coating. The glasses came in about a week. The frames were light & of decent quality. The lenses were very thin (the normal lenses, not the hi-index ones). A hard case & microfiber cleaning cloth was included. I was satisfied, but I ordered from zennioptical.com and their quality was better & half the price. I would try them first before ordering from 39 dollar glasses. UPDATE: The arms of my glasses fell off & the screw they used was so small that it really didn't hold the arms. I have to buy new glasses now. The frame is so cheap that the lenses come loose. The frame is similar to the rings you get from the quarter machines when you were a child.

I ordered from Australia and my experience with them was great. I received the glasses and they are absolutely excellent quality, and importantly, the prescription was 100% correct. I would definitely shop there again (in fact I am about to). The service I received was top notch from their service department, and I am highly critical of any service areas after working in retail for many years.

For prices , they are not so cheap . Many other place cheaper than this site such as http://zennioptical.com and http://optical4less.com For quality , this part is a joke . The pair I ordered from them is properly the worst one from the internet . the lens quality were ok (although they don't have coating) but the frame was old and scratched badly . 4 months now I received NO REPLY ! The varifocals were a great price but took weeks to be delivered not days, and then a fault developed. I was promised immediate repair and the spectacles would be rushed back to me etc . . . Six weeks later I have no glasses, the credit card was debited five weeks ago, no explanations, no responses, all calls, e-mails, faxes largely ignored. I would say avoid this company at all costs. Pay a little more somewhere else and get some service.

I just got mine today. They are really nice and such a low price compared to all the stores. I added $24.00 to get the non-glare and it is well worth it. The cheapest I could find anywhere else was Costco ($109. without the non-glare. Costco is still a good deal but this is better. I think these frames are nicer quality. I should have bought two pairs and then the shipping would have been free. They even have progressives and transition lenses at a fraction of what the stores charge.
