Great service idea but real bad in it's execution TWICE!
by chiphotoguy, May 26, 2009

This is my second time using them and they got the order wrong both times. I got a call today from cust service that my same day delivery confirmed order was NOT delivered. It's now 3 days later and it was for my daughter's 21st birthday. Boy, dad looked like a real a-whole, thanks flowers. They offered to send it out promptly (3 days later) and the girl assured me she would call the florist so it would look EXACTLY like the picture online, or she'd locate another florist. Got a call after lunch from my daughter that the flowers arrived. Send me a picture I asked. NOTHING like my online order picture. OH, and the message I put in the online greeting card space? Couldn't get that right either. They are depending on local florists to fulfill these orders and my guess is they just don't pay enough to the local florist fulfilling the order to get it right. They did refund my money after an hour talking to cust service. Never again.

Buyer beware!! Used to be a great company. Will never use them again. Horrible customer service. Impossible to get through on phones. 40 minute plus wait times. Delivery ordered a week in advance for the day before mother's day and the flowere were never delivered. Emails confirming delivery with flowers still at florist. No response form customer service emails. Horrible treatment of loyal customer. So sad because they used to be a good company.

Disgruntled and appauled

APPALLED! Complete failure to deliver a bouquet that even resembled what I had ordered. The arrangement was supposed to be "Plum Crazy" with lots of purple flowers... what was delivered? Pink and white and some other random greenery. Oh, but there was one purple flower so I guess that counts. And don't get me started on size - the LARGE arrangement I ordered was supposed to be approx 17"x15" in a vase. What was delivered was 7"x8" in a 3" square jar looking thing - that was RED. 1-800-Flowers should be completely ashamed of themselves. And when I called Customer Service to get my "satisfaction guaranteed" all they would do is either credit me 20% or give me a $20 credit towards my next purchase. HA, like anyone in their right mind would bother ordering from them again. So, even if you only get 50% of you had ordered and paid for, they're only willing to give you 20% of it back. My recommendation to everyone wanting to get flowers - go to Safeway and hand-deliver... the quality and quantity will be much greater.

Buy only small 'cause that's what you're gonna get!

I order from this guys online. The order was delivered early on the set day which was great. Some of the flowers were still in bud so the arrangement was very fresh. However, I think it takes away from the presence of the arrangement when the biggest flowers in the arrangements are not in bloom yet. The recipient thought it looked poor or empty. And the biggest disappointment wasn't even that!
I had purchsed a large arrangement, but they delivered a small one. How convenient!! There's a $10 difference between sizes and 2 inches difference in height. So I paid $60 for a large that was supposed to be 20 inches tall, but got a small one (16 inches) for the same price. After I called to complain, they offer me a 20% refund of the total price (~$15) when the price difference between the small and the large was $20+ tax+S&H. These people will cheat you out of your money and you won't be satisfied so buy a small one to begin with -'cause that's what you're gonna get! |

by gmal1, February 14, 2009

I didnt realize that they would use UPS to attempt delivery. UPS doesnt know anythign about flowers, and were "unable" to deliver to a building where I have a (real) local florist deliver every annually.I thought they worked with or had 'local', but 800flowers informed I had a "special" order that had to be delivered from the warehouse. Actually, I ordered a very standard vase package for Valentines Day.
I believe you will do better by using local florists, using goggle map search to find one if needed in a distant location. |

Skip the middle-man and disconnect 1-800-Flowers.com
by stteve, February 13, 2009

1800Flowers is incredibly unreliable. It's like a clearing house for flower companies and florist generally give less attention and detail to flowers ordered through 1800Flowers than if you call the florist directly. I recommend calling a florist directly, build a relationship. You'll get better care and much more concern and attention to detail. Skip the middle man and disconnect 1800Flowers!

Ordered flowers for the funeral of a friend's baby and got a confirmation e-mail. Three days after the order was supposed be delivered, I sent an email asking for confirmation of the delivery. I figured I was being overly concerned because if they hadn't, I would have been notified.
WRONG! "The flowers weren't delivered," the rep. said. "So you were charging me for flowers that were never delivered?" I asked. "Well ... umm ... well," she stammered. Then the rep asked me if I'd like the flowers delivered to the person's home. First, I don't have her home address. Second, like the flowers would actually get there! Personally, I think it's a scam. How many occasions are there where you can ask, "Did you get the flowers? I know your mom just died and all, but I have something even more important to discuss with you." How many times have they charged people for flowers that never arrived? |

Perhaps this is an isolated incident but I feel compelled to write a review. I received flowers from my boyfriend, which he ordered through 1-800-Flowers.com and I was sorely dissapointed. When the flowers arrived, they did not appear to be very fresh. I followed the directions for watering and reviving them, which came with the flowers. Even though I followed the directions to the letter, the flowers only lasted a couple of days before they started to droop and wilt. In addition, they never bloomed as the instructions indicated they would and the arrangement even if it had bloomed was not very attractive. I have sent flowers on numerous occasions via ProFlowers and I have always been very satisfied. If I can figure out a way to warn my boyfriend about 1-800-flowers.com without hurting his feelings, I will do so.

The worst floral delivery service I've ever used.
by backatchabuddy, December 24, 2008

These folks were the worst floral delivery service I've ever used.
First they sent a bouquet with half the flowers dead and the other half dying. When I told them a coupon off my next purchase wasn't going to cut it, they promised a redelivery at no change - it never came. After many phone calls and emails back and forth (and they actually fraudulently edited my emails when forwarding them to their complaints department) I had to cut off payment at the credit card. Never use 1-800Flowers - I never will. |

Very Disappointed

Be very careful when you order from this vendor. The flowers I ordered last night were sent loose in a box accompanied with a vase and the recipient had to make her own arrangement!
UPDATE: I decided to try them again since I have learned that some flowers say "delivered by local florist" and some say "delivered by UPS or FedEx." The UPS/FedEx ones always come not arranged. So I found an arrangement I liked tonight and it said "delivered by local florist" so I placed it in my cart to checkout. At checkout it said "delivered by UPS or FedEx" . . . glad I paid attention. So I called and she couldn't figure it out at first and then, after talking with her supervisor decided that they didn't have a florist in the area I wanted to deliver to. Be very careful when you order from them . . . as I stated before. I have written them off and ordered my flowers from Teleflora where I can actually choose the florist who will arrange and deliver my flowers. (And they had several who were located in the town I wanted to send the flowers to.) |

You Can Do Much Better
by jiminnewyork, August 6, 2008

I have used 1-800Flowers for a number of years. I've had my share of bad experiences - mostly quality and timing. Their choice of delivery, UPS, is a terrible one and often accounts for problems in delivery. Example, I ordered flowers for my wife's birthday on 7/28 to be delivered on 8/5. UPS showed up at 7:45pm and left them in my garage. The driver was too lazy to walk to the front door and ring the bell. Result? Flowers never arrived on the birthday and were found in the garage next morning. 1-800-Flower-Dump claims they authorize UPS to put the flowers in your garage if they choose. If you are in the business of selling time sensitive, perishable items, would you allow your delivery agent to leave them anywhere and your customer go searching for them? Also the recipient doesn't know they are coming and would not know to search for them.
Quality issues are consistent with other reviews here. Jim McCann, their CEO, has become complacent. Other reviews and overall rating of 1-800Flowers bears this out. Shop elsewhere - you'll get better quality and customer service for your money and avoid UPS if you can. |

I ordered my mother an arrangement of purple irises (her favorite flower) with white roses with seashells in the bottom of the vase and she got yellow daisies, some kind of red flowers, and rocks in the bottom of the vase! When I called about it, 800flowers said they would contact the florist and have the flowers resent. The second delivery did have the roses, but still no irises. 800flowers said that substitutes are allowable and I guess they figure since you probably won't be seeing your order anyway, it doesn't matter what they send! I will never use 800flowers again.

1-800-FLOWERS.com was a terrible experience
by dfender97, June 23, 2008

Terrible experience. So much for same day delivery. After waiting on hold for 15 minutes because there was no tracking number online, I was told that the florist delivered the flowers. Not so. I also never received a confirmation email even though my order was in their system. I was told it would be delivered the next day and given an apology with a whopping 20% off my next order. Like I would use them again. Maybe with 50% off. For a company that is delivering a product most likely based on a date, i.e. birthday, holiday, death, graduation you would think they would see the importance of delivery. FTD from here on out.
