I've used 1-800-flowers about a half dozen times over the past year and two of those six experiences were so appalling I have chosen never to use this service again. The first time, the florist couldn't find the address (and this was not a hard address to find, so I'm guessing he never tried...), so he called the recipient and insisted the recipient drive to his shop the next day and pick them up. His shop was in one of the worst neighborhoods in the NYC metro area (as in open gunfire in broad daylight type of neighborhood -- Irvington, NJ, anyone...??), and when they arrived, the flowers had been left in the box and were half dead. It took me two days to get 1800flowers to refund my money. They tried offering me all kinds of other things -- dated, limited coupons (useless if I didn't order again within 30 days), a second delivery to the same person, etc.), but I held out and told them I wanted a refund.
This last time, they were supposed to order something in NYC -- the west Village, actually. Again, no delivery. Their excuse? They couldn't find a florist in NYC. In the west Village. Seriously. Where are these people from that they think they can get away with a lie like that?? Also, the customer service people this time around were all barely English speaking Hispanics, were as rude as heck, basically told me they would do nothing to remedy the situation.
I will never use these people again. To have recipients come pick up flowers and to be unable to find a single florist in NYC (with a five day lead time, no less) to make a simple delivery is just beyond inexcusable.
