Dead Flowers. Would have been great for a prank, though.

What a horrible Valentine day surprise: 1-800-Flowers sent a pot full of dead flowers. I can only guess that they froze during transit (the geniuses sent them via UPS ground). I have ordered once from them a few years ago and they had the flowers delivered through a local florist - I don't know if they have changed their method now, or if this particular item was only available via shipment. I don't think I can include pictures in this preview but here is a link: http://s38.photobucket.com/albums/e143/chivinou/?action=view¤t=deadflowers.jpg
Just so you can compare here is a link to how the flowers "should" have looked like: http://s38.photobucket.com/albums/e143/chivinou/?action=view¤t=roses_and_cherub.jpg.
If that was not enough, the customer service has been terrible. I have made several attempts to contact them but no response other than auto-replies or being put on hold forever. There is a "Freshness Guarantee" advertised on the site where they promise you will be satisfied with the product but I don't see how they can honor this when they don't answer any customer calls.
All that is left for me now is hope that the credit card company will refund me - I am pretty confident they will but it is a real hassle to have to go through this. Not to mention the fact that they ruined a Valentine day present. All I can say there is I am lucky that my wife took it with humor.
