We live in a sex saturated society. It’s not how it used to be, Ricky and Lucy sleeping in separate beds, clothed from head to toe. The world, specifically media has blown sex up so big that your students have no idea that there are any standards, no idea that there are any consequences with sex. Our youth of today desperately need to hear that there are consequences, that sex was God’s idea, and He created it to be beautiful. Teach this message at least once a year, and relationships in your ministry will be different. Week 1 - Distinguishing Truth From Lies Confusion about sex is rampant in our culture today. Mixed messages come from all directions. This message is a way to step back from all of the chaos and show students the truth about sex while revealing the lies they are bombarded with daily. Week 2 - Distinguishing Male/Female Differences There are more differences between guys and girls than anatomy. God created them with specific needs that compliment the other gender. Understanding these differences will help students understand each other better. This message is a great education to students about how God wired the genders and how to navigate a relationship with the opposite sex. Week 3 - What The Bible Says About Sex “Your way right away” is a great slogan for selling a lot of hamburgers. Unfortunately, it has also become a popular attitude toward sex. God’s word has taken a back seat to worldly attitudes about sex in our culture. There are many secular answers to questions about how far is too far, homosexuality, and masturbation. This message will set the record straight with your students about what God’s design for sex is. Week 4 - Okay...So What About When I'm Really Tempted? Fire drills were commonplace when I was in school. We had an evacuation plan that we practiced about twice a year. Students need an evacuation plan for when they feel the sexual tension is heating up too much. Use this message to challenge your students to set standards before they date and figure out an escape plan that will prevent them from pain. This message has great biblical insights that will help discerning students make right choices. Week 5 - Okay...I've Messed Up In This Area...Now What? Grace is available to all who ask for it. Unfortunately, we still have lingering consequences for poor choices. What many students need to hear is that God does not hate them and they can be forgiven. This message will be a life-line to students who believe they’ve sinned to big to be forgiven by God and a challenge for those who have not yet crossed the line into sexual sin.

Sex is everywhere. You see it in magazines, billboards, TV. It’s become so normal. Sex is used to sell products. For some, sex terrifies. For others, sex mystifies. It consumes our thoughts. In this message series, it may be the first time your students ever heard somebody talk about sex in a public setting. In this series on sex, Doug talks about solid biblical truths that will help students from experiencing the pain that oftentimes happens because of sex and broken relationships that can happen outside of the context of marriage, which is God’s design for sex in the first place. Week 1 - Why The Big Deal About Sex Anyway? Sex is everywhere. It has become a marketing tool for advertisers, a goal of making a person feel loved, and an object of blurred boundaries and definitions. This sermon is a series overview which wades through the rampant false messages about sex to expose the core biblical truths and consequences of taking a relationship too far before marriage. By delivering this message to your students, you will equip them with four solid action steps to help them evaluate relational options and boundaries that will protect them from pain as they wait for marriage before having sex. Week 2 - What's The Bible Teach About Sex? The good news about sex is that it’s not dirty and God’s not against it. He created it and He wants it to be enjoyable in the right context. In part 1 of this series, students were challenged to set boundaries. In part 2, they will find out how God plans to help them keep those boundaries strengthened. Students will be relieved to learn that as they choose the right path with their future protected, they can trust God to help them win the battle over temptation. Week 3 - How Far Is Too Far? What can I get away with and still be a virgin is a common question haunting the minds of students today. They want to experiment as much as possible, but they still want to cling to the label sexually pure. They’ve got it backward. A student who seriously wants to build a healthy relationship with God and wait until marriage for sex will ask, “How can I honor God with my relationships?” Using this sermon to help students change their mindset and commitment level will push them closer to making wise relational choices. Week 4 - What Else Should I Know About Sex? While sex consummates a marriage, it divides dating partners. When a dating relationship moves into territory reserved for marriage, the couple does not have the commitment to live up to the action. This message also reveals the biological truth of sexually transmitted diseases as well as the emotional pain of going too far before marriage. The purpose of this talk is to show students how God can meet the needs that we believe can only be met in a sexual relationship. Week 5 - Creative Dating It’s not enough to tell students how to avoid sex and wait until marriage. We miss painting the whole picture when we don’t give them healthy examples of dating. In this message, there are several dating principles that will take some of the awkward mystery and lack of direction out a budding relationship. Week 6 - What's All The Talk About Sex? What are students supposed to do if they’ve already messed up by having sex? Does God give up on them or is there any hope? This message is all about accepting responsibility for our actions and realizing that God’s grace can forgive any sin. This sermon brings hope for those who have gone too far. For students who are still sexually pure, it gives them a message of hope instead of condemnation that they can share to others who have messed up.
