Since 1996 Terlato purchase of Rutherford Hill, our estate owned vineyard in Rutherford has become an important location for Cabernet Sauvignon. Winemaker Notes - A beautiful deep ruby color with lush fruit aromas of raspberry and Bing cherry, hints of cedar box, bright mint and spicy cinnamon. A full-bodied wine with a rich mouthfeel. Balanced acidity and silky tannins spread to a long lingering finish. Ready to drink now, but will age nicely for 4-5 years.

It s well-balanced with firm but integrated tannins and a long aftertaste that offers depth and nuances. Aged in French Oak barrels for two years. Age worthy for 8-10 years. Winemaker Notes - A classic Rutherford Cab with full violet-ruby color and distinctive local aromas of black cherry, dark olive and mineral, combined with hints of smoky oak and blackberry. The Cabernet Sauvignon Napa (50,000 cases produced) is a blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Syrah, Merlot, and Petite Sirah. Its dark ruby/plum color is followed by sweet aromas of black currants, smoke, damp earth, licorice, and spice. Medium-bodied and pure with silky tannins as well as a surprisingly long finish, it should drink well for 5-8 years. It has been at least twenty years since I have had a Napa Cabernet this good for under $15 a bottle." (08/08) Avalon makes only Cabernet, one dirt cheap wine with a generic "California' name place, another, well...pretty close to dirt cheap Cab sourced from a variety of Napa Valley appellations. Just Cabernet, so it's lucky for them (and for us) that they handle this favorite grape so very well. The Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is silky and ripe, with layers of cassis fruit and just a smidgen of both oak and tannin. A great Cab to have on hand during summer BBQs!

The Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a supple wine, exhibiting aromas of cassis, currant and raspberry. A small percentage of grapes are whole berry fermented, contributing a softness in the tannin structure and an added richness, polished texture and earthy body. This wine pairs well with roasted meats, particularly when served with a berry or currant reduction sauce. Wild mushroom risotto or any dish featuring Portabello mushrooms would be a great match with the earthy characteristics of this wine.

Our 2005 CASK Cabernet has layers of ripe, red cherries, plum, vanilla, cocoa, and toast. The flavor is intense and attains a layered complexity and long finish, but with a pleasing, supple mouth feel. The wine is remarkable now, especially if served with intensely flavored meats or cheeses, but it also can be aged for 10 years or more. This is a monumental vintage for CASK. It exhibits a classic Bryant profile of blueberries, blackberries, chocolate, and smoky notes (100% new Taransaud barrels are utilized), a full-bodied, powerful palate, great texture, tremendous purity, and a long, heady finish with high tannin, but it is well-integrated and sweet. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2020. WS 92 Pts. - Hearty and robust, with tiers of ripe roasted plum, currant, black cherry and cedary oak. Winemaker Notes - The majority of this blend is from our estate vineyards of Dos Olivos in Oakville and Rutherford Ridge, Andrus, Manley Lane and Circle Hill in Rutherford. Close spacing and a strict regimen of fruit-dropping and de-leafing enhanced the bright berry flavors of the Oakville fruit and Rutherford s signature dust characteristics, both evident in the finished wine. A dense ruby hue hints at the intensity of this young, bright wine. Aromas of blueberry, red cherry and raspberry are accented by darker notes of coffee bean, spicy bramble and hints of caramel. The palate is equally inviting, opening with fresh, sweet dark berry and baked cherry fruit before the firm tannins take hold and carry the long finish through deeper tones of black tea, briar and toasty oak. Decant for 30 minutes to allow this youthful wine to open up to its best flavors.

The source is a very well known high end Cabernet producer near St Helena. Almost 32 barrels were blended with no fining, no filtration and one final racking to bottle. The story of the legend of Atticus John was told to us by an old farmer in Napa almost 2 years ago - That he had a several dozen large dogs and lived in the hills of Napa at the turn of the 20th century as a "homme sauvage" living off the land. It sounded genuine enough to capture and use for this wine.

WA 91Pts - Tasting Notes - According to Robert Parker; Not surprisingly, my favorite Napa bottling is the 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon, a blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and a dollop of Petit Verdot. Aromas of olive-tinged, creme de cassis intermixed with sweet vanillin and smoky oak lead to a sweet, chunky, ripe, cedary wine with an attractive texture, an expansive, fruit-forward style, and a spicy finish. It should drink well for 10-12 years.

On January 1, 2006 the Napa Valley awoke to some of the worst flooding they have ever had in decades This rainy spell continued into March and early April pushing bud break back almost 3 weeks This delay compressed bud break and bloom creating a vintage with impressive quality and consistency In general, temperatures were mild with the exception being a 10 day heat wave in July It was early enough not to cause harm and only helped the vines play catch up The fall months of September and October were cooler than normal with some unseasonable light rain in the first week of October The wines from the vintage generally combine deep concentration with firm structureThis harvest was considerably later than most on record in the valley The Helms Vineyard was picked on October 26th The fruit looked great and the vineyard very homogeneous, so they picked the entire 5 acres in just 2 days Half of the lots were fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve and brighten the fruit The other half went 400 liter barrels to balance the structure These lots fermented quickly with native yeasts and they started pressing the week of November 16th and continued until Thanksgiving Malolactic was native and finished up in FebruaryTasting Notes: The 2006 Helms Vineyard Cabernet is rich and layered, with aromatic notes of spice and earth Brimming with black cherry and black currant flavors, with hints of chocolate and licorice, the lushness is backed by firm, yet integrated tannins The finish is long and clean The wine is drinking beautifully now, but will age gracefully for many yearsOnly 235 Cases Produced Aged 19 Months in 100% New French Oak Wine CABERNET SAUVIGNON

The long awaited release of this ultra-sheik Cabernet from Darioush is sure to be a big hit. It is sourced from the eminent winery's estate vineyards in the Oak Knoll, Mt. Veeder and Napa Valley appellations. Darioush Khaledi, Proprietor, grew up in Shiraz, one of Iran's prominent wine-growing regions. His father was a hobbyist winemaker and as a young boy, Khaledi used to sneak sips from the barrel; as a young adult he became a devoted collector of fine wines. Immigrating to the United States in the late 1970's Khaledi's passion for wine never waned. In the early 1990's he embarked on a worldwide search for the ultimate vineyard estate. Darioush is the culmination of this search.

Tasting Notes - This wine is a beautiful deep ruby-red color. Initial aromas of black olive, pomegranate and watermelon rind are backed by a tarry note. They open to concentrated chocolate fudge, rum raisin, butterscotch and cedar. On the palate, there is surprising elegance for such youth. Fine-grained tannins in the mouth combine with cassis, toffee and plum-pie flavors interspersed with rosemary and lavender. The finish is long and luxurious.
