Peruvian tapestries are world-renowned for the looming and stitching skills required to create detailed scenes of Andean culture in every weaving. The stunning depictions incorporate vibrant colors made from natural dyes consisting of local minerals and plants, and can be detailed enough to have field of depth in their scenes. The tapestries available from La Fuente Imports were chosen for their overall quality, complexity of design, and expression of warmth and cultural spirit. These handmade pieces of art are best displayed on a wall, and will compliment any southwestern or rustic décor beautifully. The fabric consists of 50 percent alpaca wool and 50 percent acrylic fiber. A link to our cactus rug clips for simple and affordable wall mounting is located below under ‘We Also Suggest'. Less

Indigenous Aymara and Quecha women working in a craft cooperative in the Peruvian highlands use only hand looms to knit this eye-catching spray of purple pansies. Inspired by the flower sellers in local mercados, they blend shades of purple and fuchsia to create a large and bright motif on a background of charcoal gray. Hand-knit scalloping at the cuffs and hem and hand-painted ceramic buttons complement the naturally warm and insulating alpaca-blend yarn. Alpaca has been a staple of indigenous Peruvian textile arts for millennia. Handloomed in Peru. Less

Sections of glass, each handpainted from the back in jewel tones and golden accents, frame this beveled mirror like a beautifully refined quilt. Peruvian artists create the frame according to their centuries-old tradition of reverse glass painting, a Renaissance technique that's been infused with South American verve. The frame is pieced together and carefully finished by hand. Hangs vertically or horizontally. 32" x 40". Made in Peru. Premier service included. Less

Considered a gift from Pachamama, the goddess of fertility, good fortune, and nature, rich blue-green Peruvian opal has been used by native Inca in ritual and jewelry for millennia. Today a group of artisans, led by jeweler Tiberio Gonzales, uses this ancient material-still revered by Quechua Indians, descendants of the Inca-to craft versatile accessories with a deep connection to the past and to Mother Earth. Each stone bears the unique marks of the earth in which it was formed and will therefore vary in color from light shades of sky blue to darker turquoise. Each is traced with a sterling silver bezel, believed in Peruvian mythology to be the tears of the moon. Handmade in Peru. We're sorry but the Opal Bracelet is no longer available. Less

In the centuries after the Spanish conquest of the Andes, European and indigenous people both lived and practiced their crafts in modern-day Peru, where techniques evolved side by side. Silver and tapestries from the 16th through 19th centuries display a mingling of Spanish and Indian motifs, and it is one of these cross-cultural artifacts that inspired the design of this 100% alpaca sweater. Peruvian artisans translate patterns known as Andean Baroque using undyed superfine alpaca fiber in muted, neutral hues. Geometric patterns reminiscent of both Spanish wrought iron and indigenous weaving connect in stripes that cover the entire body of this warm winter garment. Less

When the mine closed near San Pedro de Cajas, in Peru's central highlands, many of the men who were employed there had to leave the area to find seasonal work. To make ends meet, the women of the village turned to traditional textile crafts, adapting their centuries-old skills to products for the international market. This moss-green scarf features a traditional Peruvian pattern of simple geometric shapes. Handwoven in Peru from a blend of baby alpaca and sheep's wool. Less

Since 1989, this 50 hectares plantation belongs to the Chilca Valley, a desert particularly place. At the meantime this plantation presents a peculiar similarity to a green oases with specifically and recognizable own microclimate, establishing a new variety of birds and insects, middling a natural fauna settled. We have done an effort, since the beginning of the ranch; improving and maintaining an original and biological cultivation, bringing plantations of eucalyptus, figs and lemon trees and cultivating vineyards, creating at the same time the bio- diversification. This specifically harmonically treatment in our plantation have origin in our experience, olive trees with life between 4 and 7 years in increasing productive trees with high outputs in similarity as trees with 12 years olive production. Remarking this aspect in the entire Peruvian zone. We have successfully results in our campaign against parasites, enclosing mechanical forms and bio sprays that we developed in our particular laboratory. We use the own natural excrements of our animals like horses, lamps, goats and rabbits for the fruitfulness objective. We feed them using our own biological products. Less

Considered a gift from Copacati, the Inca goddess of the lake, rich blue-green amazonite is mined near Huancayo in Peru's central highlands. Today a group of artisans uses this ancient material to craft versatile accessories with a deep connection to Inca creation myth and the power of the waters. Each stone bears the marks of the earth in which it was formed and will therefore vary in veining pattern and color. Each is traced with a sterling silver bezel, believed in Peruvian mythology to be the tears of the moon. Handmade in Peru. Less

Soft, warm alpaca wool is blended with lightweight pima cotton in this jacquard-knit cardigan that features a floral pattern inspired by the earthy colors of the Peruvian landscape. Alpaca has been a staple of Andean culture and textile arts since pre-Inca days. This contemporary cut and jacquard pattern reflect an ancient tradition that continues to evolve as artisans expand upon millennia of craft knowledge. Reverses from chestnut-hued roses on a soft red background to red roses on chestnut. Mother-of-pearl buttons. Handmade by artisans in Peru. Less

Peruvian Maca is well-recognized to relieve menopause symptoms, stimulate the hormonal balance and ovulation problems in women and improves sperm production in men.
